A Message from Interim Superintendent of Schools-

Carol F. Muscarella

It’s November already! It has been said that November is the month to remind us to be thankful for the many positive things happening in our life. With that in mind, I am filled with pride and gratitude for all that our students, staff, and families have already accomplished this school year. From exciting new learning opportunities in our classrooms to the enthusiasm at events such as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Safe Halloween, the Plainedge Planetarium, and Edge of the Arcade, the energy across our district has been truly inspiring. Each of these moments reflects the vibrant Plainedge spirit that shines so brightly throughout our community.

Thank you for your unwavering support, collaboration, and commitment to our shared mission of providing an exceptional educational experience for every student. I look forward to the many successes and celebrations that lie ahead as we continue moving forward together in the 2025–2026 school year.

I encourage you to stay connected with your school and participate in our upcoming events. For the latest news and updates, please visit our district website, join our community groups, and follow us on social media. I am also excited to share a new feature on our ParentSquare platform, it’s our Saturday Page, where families can find information about local after-school activities for our students. All of these platforms will keep you informed and engaged with what’s happening across our district and within the broader Plainedge community.

Mark your calendars!

Our Annual Season of Lights celebration will take place on December 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Brian Moore Athletic Facility and Community Center. We look forward to celebrating this festive tradition together with our Plainedge community.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Warm regards,

Carol F. Muscarella

Teacher Spotlight

Plainedge teachers are the heart of our schools! In our Teacher Spotlight series, we celebrate the incredible educators who inspire, support, and empower our students every day. These spotlights shine a light on the people who make Plainedge such a special place to learn and grow.

Charles E. Schwarting Elementary third grade teacher Deana Puidokas consistently demonstrates compassion, high expectations, and inclusivity in the classroom. She works tirelessly to support the diverse needs of all learners, fostering a positive and inclusive environment where students thrive. Whether it's through differentiated instruction, thoughtful encouragement, or collaborative problem-solving with families, Deana Puidokas is a relentless champion for student success. We are so lucky to have her as a teacher here in Plainedge.

Alumni In Action

Plainedge High School Class of 1960 graduate Dave Levisohn, a 20-time Emmy Award winner, worked behind the camera on Dancing With the Stars on ABC, filming Julianne Hough and all the celebrity action from the skybox this season!

L.E.A.D.

The Plainedge community came together for our annual Law Enforcement & First Responders Day, a tradition of gratitude, learning, and unity.

Students across the District participated in safety activities, met first responders, and learned about the importance of service and teamwork.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, our T-shirt fundraiser raised $2,503, split between the Nassau County Police Department Foundation and The Brian Moore Foundation.

Thank you to all who made this event such a success, especially our incredible teachers, administrators, and local P.O.P. Officers!

Plainedge High School Music Suite

The music suite is now open! Our Plainedge High School musicians have an amazing new space to learn, rehearse, and create. This addition brings even more harmony to the heart of Plainedge High School!

Best Buddies On Halloween

Charles E. Schwarting Bristal Buddies brewed up some Halloween fun! From spooky stories to sweet smiles, our buddies cast a spell of reading magic over the classrooms.

Edge Of The Arcade

A big thank-you to our Pre-K–5th grade students and families for being part of the Plainedge STEAM Arcade! The night was filled with creativity, innovation, and hands-on fun. Each arcade game was imagined and built by our talented 5th graders through the STEAM engineering design process. We’re so proud of their dedication, creativity, and hard work!

Thank you to everyone who donated to the collection drives to support Vinny’s Army and Sienna’s Sunshine foundations.
