A Message From Our Leadership

To Our Loyal Readers,

We are hopeful this newsletter finds you at a place you chose, where you would like to be to finish 2023.

Please enjoy this issue and the next ones as we turn pages together.

We are grateful for the many relationships built through collaboration with partners and clients. Working together has given us the opportunity to serve others and to help solve problems.

It is also appropriate to look forward with much optimism as the company turns 40 in 2024. You will see some reflections and some positive strides to continue as an engineering leader in the region.

Wishing you a Joyous Holiday Season and a Happy New Year.

Doug Feterl, P.E.
President
West Plains Engineering

Thank you just doesn't quite seem to cut it. There are truly no words to express our gratitude for getting to work with and for our colleagues, clients and partners 365 days a year...for the past 39 years (and counting).

  • This year we supported projects across almost a dozen states;

  • These included exciting new construction for industrial and manufacturing complexes, schools, mixed-used developments, corrections and more;

  • It also included creative renovations to breathe new life into offices, medical facilities, higher education campuses, and government buildings.

  • Fortunately, we were able to add more talented team members to help keep production on track;

  • 1 in 4 of our team members has been here more than 20 years, and 1 in 3 has joined us in the past 5 years. We think it's a nice mix;

  • We were able to give back to the communities we serve through our WPE Ways to Give program;

  • And we continued to build our culture around our amazing team!

It's been an incredible year and we are anxiously

looking forward to our firms 40th anniversary in 2024!

WPE Makes 2023 Charitable Giving Contributions

One of the key pillars of our company culture is a belief in growth and development. We’re invested in the idea that each member of our team should be given an opportunity to shine not just professionally – but as a member of their community as well. One of the ways we support our staff in this effort is through our multi-faceted corporate philanthropy program.

West Plains Engineering Ways to Give is designed to empower employees to make a difference in their local communities on every level. Not only does each have a voice in selecting causes for our firm to support financially, but each is also recognized and rewarded for getting out and participating in local events and initiatives that hit close to home.

There are three tiers to the program:

  1. Corporate Giving: Our largest single annual charitable donation that goes to an organization or initiative that reflects our firm's culture and values.
  2. Community Investment: Each of our four markets selects a local program in their community to receive a $1,000 donation.
  3. Dollars for Doers: By volunteering or making a personal donation, staff can earn matching corporate funds to reinvest in a program that impacts them personally.

Below are our amazing recipients for our Corporate Giving and Community Investment tiers in 2023.

Habitat for Humanity works in more than 70 countries — they have helped more than 46 million people improve their living conditions since 1976.

Habitat works together with families, local communities, volunteers and partners from around the world so that more people are able to live in affordable and safe homes. Their advocacy efforts focus on policy reform to remove systemic barriers preventing low-income and historically underserved families from accessing adequate, affordable shelter.

The West Plains Engineering Operation's Group nominated the organization to receive WPE's largest donation of the year.
