The Botanic Gardens Day project team has been working on our 2023 events, so that our members can plan well ahead of Botanic Gardens Day on Sunday 28 May 2023.


The theme for 2023 is Inspirational Plants and People.

Vacancy: Maintenance gardener, WAMA, Halls Gap, VIC


WAMA, where art meets nature, is Australia’s national centre for art inspired by the natural environment on the edge of the Grampians National Park.


WAMA is looking for an experienced maintenance gardener for a 9ha site that is protected by a vermin proof fence. The site includes a recently planted endemic botanic garden, native grasslands and woodlands under a Trust for Nature covenant.


This exciting new role is full time and suited to someone interested in horticulture, loves nature, enjoys working independently but also with others and would love to be a part of this stimulating project. 


Key responsibilities are:


1. Maintenance of the Grampians (Gariwerd) Endemic Botanic Garden

2. Eradication of rabbits and other pests from within the fenced area

3. Maintain the 2km vermin proof fence

4. Facilitation of volunteer access and supervision on-site

5. Other activities including spraying, clearing, watering, mowing and weeding.
