Plan for Fall 2020
We would like to share with you updates regarding our plan for Fall 2020. Please realize the situation and response is constantly evolving as State and County guidelines change and we will inform you when changes do happen.

  • Fall 2020 courses will all be offered online with the exception of Health Occupation clinical courses. See note below for additional information.

  • Our services will remain online with the hope to have a gradual re-opening, including in-person appointments, opening of computer labs and the library, as the semester continues.

  • We will continue to have drive-thru services when possible.

  • Canvas is the online tool to use to take our classes online

Fall Classes / Resources
Classes for first responders and health care will continue to meet in person when allowable. Although some lab courses scheduled for Fall 2020 include an option listed in the schedule of courses, for transitioning some synchronous class meetings to “face-to face meetings if conditions allow.” These classes will also begin in a Distance Education/online mode on Canvas. Unless and until conditions change, these classes will be held entirely in a distance education mode.

Our concern for the health and safety of our community continues to be of the utmost priority as we prepare for a phased-in approach to return to campus.

We are currently examining ways to open a computer lab space for students who require access to computers and quiet study areas. We are also examining the possibility of limited library hours.
Online Services / Assistance
  • Welcome Center Ambassadors are answering questions online and via our Live Chats from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays on our college website (look for the chat button)

  • Counselors meeting with students virtually and discussing educational plans

  • Academic Support Center, Writing Center, and MESA programs are providing tutoring support.

We are currently in the final stages for launching "Cranium Cafe," a tool that will make it easier for students to communicate with many areas of campus online.
Additional Resources

  • Emergency financial assistance and Mission Promise scholarships.

We will continue to offer these services with social distancing in place. More information is at resources.missioncollege.edu.
Welcome Week Activities
Be on the lookout for additional activities related to our “Welcome Week” campaign, which will include virtual workshops, Mission CARES distributions, an Operation “Strong Start” checklist, and a new Student Services virtual hub on Canvas. More to come in the coming weeks.

We know this situation has not been easy for you, and we appreciate you for sticking with us during this challenging time. Have a great start to the semester!
