Plan For Water Conservation In 2026

Water is expensive thus water conservation is an important service we provide. We promoted many water conservation projects on the project we maintain and are happy to help our customers save water costs with projects that have great ROI. Our 2026 budget proposals to customers include options to modify the irrigation system and even your landscape to reduce water consumption and costs.

WEATHER BASED IRRIGATION CONTROL

Pacific Landscape Management is a Weathermatic Premiere Partner allowing us to install their Remote Access controllers as we have to most properties we manage over the past several years. We are also promoting those that have not upgraded to their SmartLink Wireless Landscape Network Weather Base Irrigation Control as a subscription, saving our customers up to 30% irrigation compared to standard manual programmed controllers. This for a small increase in the monthly fee we are proposing at contract renewal. And you will avoid the capital installation cost.

As with many technologies today, their innovative new program is ‘Subscription-Based’ and comes with the hardware with no upfront capital costThis makes conversion to weather-based control, which we have been promoting for a decade now a NO-BRAINER.

Pressure Regulation Saves Time and Money

Historically, most irrigation systems have non pressure regulated sprinklers that often times operate over pressurized. Over-pressurization can lead to water losses and contribute to uneven watering. Pressure-regulating spray heads are a developing technology designed to regulate pressure to optimal performance. Pressure-regulating spray heads include built-in regulators that maintain a more constant pressure for optimal nozzle performance.

WHY IS PRESSURE REGULATION IMPORTANT?

Two reasons: Two reasons: They will save water, and it’s now the law. All sprinklers sold today must be pressure regulated.

WATER SAVINGS:  Compared with non-regulated, pressure regulated sprinklers will use about 20-25 percent less waterAnd if the nozzle breaks, pressure regulators are estimated to save 70 percent of the water that might have been spilled if using an older sprinkler system.

LAWN CONVERSION TO CONSERVE WATER

Let’s face it. Grass was planted where it shouldn’t. Hard to mow and irrigate parking islands and parking strips should not be lawn and converting can save long term maintenance costs.

What are the Alternatives? There are lots of options. Replacing lawn with just bark dust or some sort of groundcover are both options. We believe that parking strips, parking tips, and parking islands are a bad place for lawn. Hard to irrigate and hard to mow. We are proposing to most clients a long-term strategy of lawn conversion in these areas. https://www.pacscape.com/sustainability/lawn-conversion.php

How about rocks?

We are also using rocks as a great alternative. Rocks need no water and can be an attractive element as a part of lawn conversion. We promoted many water conservation efforts on the projects we maintain and are happy to help our customers save water costs with projects that have great ROI.
