Have a little one who is eager to learn how to ski? Many ski areas have winter vacation camps specifically for February vacation weeks! Take a look at the Ski NH kid's programs page to find the perfect program, but keep in mind that many areas require advanced reservations, and many ski areas will sell out. Call ahead so you can guarantee your child's spot.
Driving in the Heart of Winter
When visiting New Hampshire in the winter, it's important to be prepared for any weather. Jon LaBier, the Director of the Granite State Clean Cities Coalition, recommends the following vehicle safety tips for driving in winter:
- Always clear your vehicle of snow and ice before driving. In the State of NH it is illegal (Jessica's Law) to operate a vehicle on the road with snow or ice on your car.
- Ensure your tires are properly inflated (traction and fuel economy both suffer when improperly inflated).
- Rotate your tires at the recommended intervals.
- Top off your washer fluid reservoir.
- If you become stuck in snow during a storm, stay with your vehicle if you are able. Periodically remove snow from around the exhaust pipe to prevent harmful emissions from entering the passenger cabin.
