Shadow Buffet @ MOV
Opening February 12, 2021 in Gallery 11
This interactive shadow installation by Mere Phantoms is presented in conversation with the A Seat at the Table project.
Also using food and restaurant culture as entry point, the central installation takes the form of a "shadow buffet". A series of round, plate-shaped paper food suspended from the ceiling just above eye level, hovering over a long white table.
Each piece is top-lit so that its shadow – a collection of food items -- is cast onto the tabletop below. These paper cut-outs not only reference food, they connect to moments and places associated with the experience of eating. Learn More.

Here's what proof of what vaccination looked like for Canadian immigrants in 1910
Vancouver is Awesome
The Museum of Vancouver has shared an interesting artifact from their collection; a vaccination card from 1910. They posted an image of a curator holding it on their Instagram account, explaining that it's "from the SS Lake Champlain, an immigration ship that sailed from Liverpool to Quebec starting in 1900. Passengers took this trip to immigrate to Canada. From Quebec, many immigrants travelled west to Vancouver which is how this card ended up at MOV. Keep Reading.

Vancouver Mural Festival Winter Arts
February 12-28, 2021
In a year marked by social distancing, VMF reimagined creative new ways to safely connect while supporting local artists and communities. In spring 2020, VMF brightened streets and inspired hope with over 60 murals on boarded up storefronts for #MakeArtWhileApart. In the summer, VMF expanded to 9 neighbourhoods with a reimagined festival featuring 60+ murals and a 3 week live performance series. More than ever, we’ve seen how public art plays an important role in connecting people and communities.
Now, for winter 2021, get ready to experience the city like never before with VMF Winter Arts! Blurring the line between the real and virtual world, VMF Winter Arts will transform public space across the core of Vancouver into an interactive, open-air gallery featuring Augmented Reality art to safely engage, connect and inspire.
