On Sunday, May 16, 2021 the Haddam Shad Museum will have live demonstrations of planking shad on an open fire with Jack Calhoun and Lenny Kochanowski and boning shad with JB Lundgren (11 AM). FREE and OPEN TO ALL!

The delightful Haddam Shad Museum is open on Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm until June 13, 2021. The museum is a true gem which tells the story of the shad fishing in the Connecticut River Valley and the importance it has played in the development of the Connecticut and Haddam. Dr. Joe Zaientz, founder and other local celebrity fishermen will be available to answer questions and tell you everything you need to know about shad.

Please remember to wear a mask and respect current Covid-19 protocols.

Do you have a knitting or needlework project that has been sitting around waiting for you to finish it? Join Beth Hartke to work on that neglected piece or start a new one and enjoy the company of others with NO modern-day intrusions. Registration is required, since space is limited. Admission is free. Although we will be outside, all Covid-19 precautions will take place including masks and social distancing.

Virtual Annual Meeting- May 20 at 6:30 PM
Annual Meeting-2021

The Haddam Historical Society will hold an abbreviated Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 20 at 6:30 pm to elect new officers and board members. There will be a short presentation on historic one-room school houses of Haddam.
The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Town Wide Tag Sale May 22
The Haddam Historical society will participate in the Town Wide Tag Sale on May 22, 2021 from 8 am to 2 pm.

We are accepting donations starting on Monday, May 17 at the museum, so start looking around and set aside items for this important fundraiser. We are not accepting: Children’s toys (unless vintage), electronics, clothes, very large items including large furniture.

Volunteers needed for final set up at 4 pm on Friday, May 22, 2021.

The concerts are free but donations encouraged
Music is from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Bring your own chair and food.
Drinks will be available for a donation.
We invite you to come early to socialize and enjoy your picnic dinner.
