In this edition, I'm excited to introduce you to the newest members of the Planning and Development team. We have several new hands on deck, and two supervisor promotions. These changes will allow the department to operate more efficiently, and will serve to provide better services to our customers and the citizens of Tulsa. Also, special thanks to Ellen Emeric, Intern from the University of Tulsa, for her research and creation of this month's newsletter. Planning and Development is fortunate to be able to utilize such an exceptional talent with a strong and outstanding work ethic. She has done an outstanding job!

October is National Community Planning month. Take a moment to check out the events and activities that have been organized to celebrate community planning in Tulsa.

Staffing to Serve Tulsa Better
As promised, we are making adjustments and changes in order to better serve the citizens of Tulsa. Here are the newest additions to the Planning and Development Department.

Phil Bradley was promoted to Inspection Services Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of Inspections Services in its efforts to enforce the Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing Codes as well as the City Ordinances related to those trades. Phil has spent 22 years with the City of Tulsa enforcing the codes and ordinances which are in place to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community. Phil truly cares about the City of Tulsa and the citizens who reside there, and he strives to be a part of making life in Tulsa rewarding.

Michael Ling , PE has been promoted to Development Services Infrastructure Manager. His team oversees the infrastructure development process, reviews all residential and commercial projects that come into the City of Tulsa, and ensures compliance with city codes and regulations related to infrastructure development.

Prior to joining the City of Tulsa as a Senior Engineer in January 2015, Michael had 19 years of progressive engineering, pipelining, floodplain development, storm water and sanitary sewer design, and construction management experience in private, municipal, and military settings. Michael aims to contribute to the continual effort to make the City of Tulsa a great place for its employees, its citizens, and its visitors.

Michael Clendenin  was hired as a Building Permit and License Specialist for the Planning and Development Department with the primary responsibility of receiving and reviewing building and related permits. In this role, Michael provides guidance to customers in the permit application process. Prior to this role, Michael served the City of Tulsa as an elevator inspector for several years.

As Infrastructure Development Permit (IDP) Plan Reviewer, Travis Hulse reviews commercial and residential building permits to ensure compliance with water, sewer, and drainage ordinances. He coordinates regularly with INCOG to address infrastructure development issues as they relate to private development in Tulsa. Travis is also the current project manager for updating the City's subdivision regulations.

As a Building Permit & License Specialist, Tobias Moreland Jr., receives all insurance and bonds that are submitted for licensing and permitting in the City. Tobias' primary responsibility is to review applications and architectural plans to verify they meet requirements for submittal, for accuracy, and for completeness. His position provides services to both internal and external customers.

Robert Render has been hired as IDP Plan Reviewer. He previously worked
in civil engineering and surveying in the private sector for the past seven years. His current position with the City of Tulsa requires him to review the transportation elements of engineering plans submitted to the City for private development. Robert also serves as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the predevelopment process.
