The Planning Commission will conduct a workshop to provide comment on the Draft Policy Framework for the preparation of the South Morro Hills Community Plan.
The workshop will be held as a discussion item during the meeting of the Planning Commission on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
On November 6, 2019, the City Council directed the Development Services Department to prepare a community plan for the South Morro Hills neighborhood planning area. A community plan is a portion of the General Plan that focuses on important issues of a specific area within the City and establishes detailed policies to guide future land use and development.
The South Morro Hills Community Plan will contain policies and planning guidance specific to Oceanside’s only remaining agricultural area, and will focus on supporting the continued viability of farming with supplemental income through expanded agritourism opportunities and residential development. The plan will also focus on protecting the rural character of South Morro Hills, enhancing the quality of life of residents, and promoting responsible growth management.
The Development Services Department prepared a draft Community Plan Policy Framework consisting of a visioning statement, guiding principles, and key strategies that will guide the preparation of the South Morro Hills Community Plan.
