Planning for Adult Life activities, events, and materials are conducted and developed in partnership with The Arc of New Jersey with funding from the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities
Are you confused about initiating the eligibility process for Social Security and Medicaid? Overwhelmed with trying to figure out if you have all of the necessary information?
This workshop will help parents and caregivers understand how to access health care services for their loved ones with I/DD, how these services are the key to opening doors to services in the adult service system, and updates on the coming regulations and deadlines.

Our presenter is Beverly Roberts, Director, Mainstreaming Medical Care Program at The Arc of New Jersey who has helped countless individuals and families through this process and works to advocate for quality health care for individuals with I/DD.

DATE: WEDNESDAY, April 21, 2021

TIME: 6:00-7:30 pm
The survey is being conducted by Susan Colacello, a parent and disability advocate, for her NJLEND Fellowship Project through The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities. The purpose of the project is to evaluate how useful families find the resources currently available to assist the transition from school to adult services (ages 18-25) and navigate the adult system of services. The survey will identify suggestions from family members on ways resources and supports can be made more effective and useful.

The survey is completely anonymous and the information will be used to propose actions that will help to better support and prepare families to enter and manage the adult services systems. This is intended to be the first step in an ongoing effort to bring the voices and lived experiences of individuals with disabilities and their families front and center in the effort to ensure that access to adult services is less complicated and stressful and more responsive to the needs of those these systems are intended to serve.
