Redan Community 101
The first Redan Community 101 Public Meeting was held on Wednesday, November 12th at Redan High School. Our team was able to discuss local planning needs specific to the Redan area and provide the community the tools, knowledge, and support needed to address planning-related matters from a community-led and empowered perspective.
Our next steering committee will be held this month, and we look forward to hosting the next public meeting soon!

| | Short-Term Rental (STR) Ordinance | The Short-Term Rental ordinance was approved on July 24, 2025. The ordinance will not go into effect for 180 days (January 20, 2026). Information on the ordinance and the next steps will be available on Engage DeKalb Short-Term Rentals: DeKalb County | Engage DeKalb. | | | | Shape the future of Arts & Culture | | Embry Hills - Presidential Parkway and Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy | |
The Embry Hills-Presidential Parkway & Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy is a study sponsored by DeKalb County seeking to strengthen this area’s unique identity through safer streets, accessible open space, catalytic development, and placemaking.
With a newly expanded project scope, the boundary will now include unincorporated residential areas to the West of I-85, residential areas of Embry Hills, the Pleasantdale community, and the Northlake CID LCI boundary. Visit the project page to view the expanded boundary map and to keep track of the plan deliverables.
Event alert! There will be a holiday pop-up on December 15th from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Embry Hills United Methodist Church. Feel free to drop in, learn more about the project, and provide your feedback! More details on this exciting event to follow.

Recycle Right
According to Earth911, approximately 4.6 million pounds of wrapping paper are produced in the U.S. each year, and an estimated 2.3 million pounds end up in landfills.
-
This year, consider sustainable gift-wrapping options, including using reusable tote bags, scarves, cookie tins, glass jars, or fabric/kitchen towels.
-
Recycle the plain (non-shiny/glittery) wrapping paper, tissue, cards, and boxes.
- Toss the ribbons, streamers, gift bags, shiny/foil/metallic wrapping paper, balloons, and bows in the trash.
-
Remember to consider reuse options before you toss.
Hope your holiday is merry and bright! And remember to recycle right!

The Lazy Person's Guide to Saving the World
The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals are important, world-changing objectives that require cooperation among governments, international organizations, and world leaders.
Change starts with you. Every human on earth is part of the solution. Fortunately, there are some super-easy things we can adopt into our routines that, if we all do them, will make a big difference.
Have a look at just a few of the many things you can do to make an impact:
| | | | | |
Our Front Yard Tree Program is an opportunity for DeKalb homeowners to add shade and beauty to their yard, at no cost to the homeowner. Our partner, Trees Atlanta, provides advice on species selection and the best location for the tree, and will deliver and plant the tree.
Click here to fill out an application for a front yard tree!
