Dear GMS Families,

I hope you had a great Saturday and were able to get outside, enjoy the weather, and spend time with family.

We wrap up the week with appreciation for you and the invaluable role your family plays in our School. Specifically, we want to thank the 100+ people – including many cameo appearances from our students – who joined us Thursday and Friday for our virtual Head of School Huddles. These two-hour events were full of transparent dialogue. They included tough questions about the year ahead and tremendous support for what we have planned for you and your children.

During the Huddles, many families expressed appreciation for and confidence in our School. After sharing his gratitude, one parent asked, "What can we do for you?" It was humbling, and it took me a moment to respond. A day later, it's more clear how you can help. The daily evolution of COVID-19 makes planning for a school year more difficult than ever before. To better inform our medical, operational, and financial panning for this summer and the fall, we need to hear from you.

  1. First, if you were unable to attend one of the Huddles, please take time in the next couple days to watch this version of the presentation, which we recorded this morning. It is an hour long and includes a thorough review of how we are making decisions and what we are planning for 2020-21.
  2. Second, please complete our 2019-20 End-of-Year Survey. The primary purpose of this year's survey is to help us prepare for 2020-21 in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to know your family's feedback, needs, and opinions, so we can best support you and position our School to provide sustained in-person learning on both our campuses this fall, barring factors outside our control.
So we can provide further clarity for you by the end of next week, including a decision on opening Summer Camp in July, please complete our survey by end of day Monday, June 1.

Before we turn all of our focus to next year, let's take time this coming week to celebrate all we have achieved in 2019-20. Look for details on Thursday's virtual Moving Up Ceremonies and Friday's in-person Drive-By Farewell Parade in tomorrow's Week Ahead Email and a separate email on Monday. We'll also be celebrating 2019-20 on our social media channels, sharing memories from the year and honoring our incredible school community.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or thoughts. Additionally, if you are experiencing a financial hardship due to COVID-19 that threatens your continued enrollment at our School,  email me, so we can find time to discuss options.

We hope to see you online throughout the week, whether you're completing our survey, commenting on a Facebook post, or celebrating our students who are moving up next year. And we really hope to see you in-person (albeit socially distant) for Friday's Drive-By Farewell Parade.
