Look Cool, Lead a Carpool
Entourage. Squad. Crew. It doesn't matter what you call your group of friends and family; it's always more fun traveling together. Carpooling is also one of the best ways to improve air quality. When there are fewer single-occupancy vehicles on the road, there's less tailpipe pollution and less traffic. Pledge to carpool on Friday, June 21 for Clean Air Action Day.

If you have to drive solo to get where you need to go, no worries - there are plenty of other ways you can make our air cleaner. See what actions you can take to make a difference.
Sign up for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson
Join us at Jack Carter Pool for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday, June 20, 8-9 a.m. You'll receive a free lesson and certificate, along with participating in the largest swimming lesson for the Guinness World Record. This event builds awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning. The event is free. Register to save your spot . Jack Carter Pool pool is at 2601 Pleasant Valley Dr.
Shine the Light on Plano's Environmental Heroes
Who makes Plano cleaner, greener and better for all of us? Nominate them for the Environmental Community Awards . Honor Plano adults, youth, businesses, schools and non-profits for outstanding environmental leadership and achievement. Submit an application for yourself or someone you know. The projects, programs and services must have occurred between May 2018 and May 2019.

In September, our winners gather for the 2019 Environmental Community Awards Celebration. Don't delay! Applications for community and school awards are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, and business awards are due Monday, July 8.

Children between ages 8 and 18 are spending 7.5 hours a day in front of some type of digital screen. The Plano Police Department Victim Services program dives into some of the most popular applications used by children and teens.

Never put clothing or shoes in your recycling cart. Place these textiles in a Simple Recycling orange bag at the front curb on your recycling day for convenient collection.

Search Recycle It for other options or toss the clothing in the trash cart.
