Bike to Work on Friday
Take on a fresh challenge, bike to work on Friday, May 17. From 7 to 9 a.m. on Bike to Work Day . DART, Bike DFW, the North Central Texas Council of Governments, area bike groups and local bike shops invite you to charge up at DART Energizer Stations. Receive a free bike safety check, refreshments and more. Hop aboard at the Parker Road Station or CityLine/Bush Station to start your morning ride off right on Friday.

DART buses and trains make it simple to combine riding your bike with riding transit . Place your bike on the easy-to-use storage racks on the front of DART buses or just roll your bike onto the train. DART offers bike racks as well as bike lids at rail stations and transit centers. Both are free of charge and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attend Sunset at Memorial Park
Join our community to honor the military men and women who lost their lives serving our country. On Monday, May 27, 7-8 p.m., gather for Sunset at Memorial Park at the Veterans Memorial, 2101 Bay Hill Dr. A motorcycle ride to the memorial begins at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 1236 J Ave. Riders arrive at the park at 6:45 p.m. bearing flags. The 45-minute program begins at 7 p.m., opening with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. The names of 42 Plano veterans will be read, followed by placement of wreaths, folding of the flag and a 21-gun salute. It's a free event presented by American Legion Haring-Blaine Post 321 and Casey Joyce All-America VFW Post 4380.

Meet teen volunteers from across Plano who promote and advise others on teen-focused Library services. To join this crew, you must be 13-18 years old and able to attend monthly meetings.

Tommy Alverson has shared the stage with Texas musicians Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P. Nunn, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Pat Green and Radney Foster. Ed Burleson started playing guitar at a newcomer's showcase at the Three Teardrops Tavern in Dallas. His 1999 album, "My Perfect World," hit number four on the Americana charts.

With your help, Plano Fire-Rescue and Plano Firefighters Association collected $219,000 last year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) . This year's Fill the Boot goal is $250,000. May 13-18, watch for firefighters with boots at designated street corners around the City and touch lives with your MDA donation.
