Chalk it Up for Fire Safety!
Celebrate Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4-10, while Serving Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen. This year’s fire lesson focuses on cooking safely for good reason:
  • Cooking is the #1 cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
  • Unattended cooking is the leading cause of fires in the kitchen.
  • Scald burns are the second leading cause of all burn injuries. Hot liquids like coffee and soup can cause devastating injuries.

Show us what you learned on the Plano-Fire Rescue Facebook page one or both of these ways:
  • Create chalk art and post a photo of your design to the Facebook page.
  • Color the Sparky coloring sheet, place him around your home being safe and post photos to the Facebook page.
Learn How to Garden Sustainably
Conventional gardens can work against nature, but sustainable gardens support natural ecosystems and conserve resources. These gardens enhance the environment's ability to clean air and water, reduce flooding and provide other natural benefits. Even one home garden can begin to repair the web of life.

Join us every Wednesday for a virtual Landscape for Life class starting Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. This FREE 10-hour, 5-class series covers the role of successful soil practices, water capture and conservation, and plant material selection. Over the series, design your sustainable garden and support our local pollinators. By working with nature, save time, energy, money and water.

Start this fall so your garden is ready for planting next spring!
