Do You Qualify for a Property Tax Freeze? 
If you are 65 years old or disabled, apply for a property tax freeze. Simply fill out and submit the Residential Homestead Exemption Application available through your county appraisal district. Only homes lived in by the owner can qualify. 


As of the Aug. 13 Plano City Council work session, the City Manager' 2022-23 Recommended Budget applies one-time American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds totaling $18.2 million to public safety salaries per previous Council direction. It also reflects the No-New-Revenue Rate of 41.76 cents per $100 of assessed property valuation.

Plano City Council's next public hearing on the 2022-23 property tax rate is Monday, Aug. 22. On Monday, Sept. 12, City Council will adopt the operating budget and Community Investment Program, and set the tax rate. These regular meetings begin at 7 p.m.
Celebrate the Courtyard Theater’s 20th Anniversary
Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Courtyard Theater in Historic Downtown Plano. Sponsored by the Plano Arts Coalition and the City of Plano, enjoy performances by the Coalition's arts organizations, a Plano Arts Association art exhibit and a reception at The ArtCentre of Plano. Former Assistant City Manager Frank Turner will serve as emcee. He was visionary behind the Courtyard Theater and the revitalization of the downtown area! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Appropriate for ages 3 and up.

From Custer Road to U.S. 75 

Begins Sunday, Aug. 21 
9 p.m.-6 a.m. 

An asphalt overlay will be applied to this section of the roadway overnight. This work should take approximately 2 months, weather permitting. Adjust your route to avoid delays. 

The next ultra-thin asphalt overlays will be applied to portions of Plano Parkway and Coit Road.

After a busy summer, the Plano Public Library team is taking a day to polish their skills to better serve you on future visits. 

All libraries and book drops will be closed. Online resources and eLibrary will still be available. Join us during regular hours before and after Aug. 23. 


Senior Environmental Education Specialist Katie Walker recently shared five ways to water wisely with Plano homeowner associations. Learn more about the cycle and soak method of watering and the seasonal-adjust feature on controllers. She’ll guide you inside your online water account to see usage by the hour to catch irrigation problems more quickly. 


Help your neighbor get connected and be encouraged to become involved. Apply for a Neighborhood Engagement Mini Grant. This program is specifically designed for non-mandatory homeowner associations and crime watch groups.
