Oregon Women in Timber Brings the Forest to the Banquet Room on February 22, 2023

The date is set for the 32^nd Annual Oregon Women in Timber (OWIT) Talk About Trees benefit dinner and auction event, held in conjunction with the Oregon Logging Conference.

The date is Wednesday, February 22, 2023, and the event will take place at the Graduate Eugene Hotel. Doors open and the silent auction begins at 4:00 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction is planned for 8:00 p.m.

OWIT brings the forest to the banquet hall with a cozy rustic theme and teams up with the Oregon Logging Conference as partners in education to promote the OLC theme of Green Trees Matter. Healthy Forests = Healthy Future

Auction items are being accepted, so to make a donation or purchase tickets for the annual event, visit the website https://orwit.ejoinme.org/2023.

Oregon Women in Timber also participates in the OLC by having a booth at the Future Forestry Workers Career Day and partnering with the Oregon Logging Conference and Forests today and Forever to provide on-site school tours for local students. Then on Family Day (Saturday, February 25^th) OWIT joins in providing educational activities at the Wheeler Pavilion, and Coni Fir is expected to be there too.

OWIT has seven thriving chapters: Clatsop, Coos-Curry, Douglas, Landing (Polk, Marion, Yamhill), Lane, Union, and Sweet Home High School. Check out the newsletter on the OWIT website for the latest information about the happenings of each chapter (click here), such as National Forest Products Week, Ag Fest, Thru the Trees Video Contest, and more. Membership dues for OWIT are $40 per year.

Oregon Women in Timber is a proud, statewide, non-profit organization, dedicated to creating awareness of the importance of forests, trees, and wood products in our daily lives.

Video Contest Seeks to Engage

High School Students in Timber

The Thru the Trees video contest invites high school students to submit a short video that recognizes the value of forest products and highlights careers in the logging and forestry sectors. Cash prizes will be awarded for the winning videos.

This is the third year the contest has been running, and students from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana are eligible to participate. Students are asked to submit a video, up to 90-seconds long, via YouTube. These videos can be in the format of a news segment, commercial, movie trailer, cartoon, storytelling, or music video, which highlights the forest products sector.

The contest is open to students aged 14 to 18 in the above-mentioned states. Entries are being accepted now and the deadline for submitting an entry is April 7, 2023. Winners will be announced on May 1, 2023.
