Dear DACC Students and Families,

Today marks the first official day back for our teachers in the 2020/2021 school year and there is an energy in the building as we prepare for the start of school. This year, more than any other, will require creative thinking, innovative solutions, patience, and empathy. These are qualities that we value in our staff and students during any school year, but they are especially crucial now.

I know many of you are receiving updates from your associate districts about changes or possible changes in their plans for returning to school. I am reaching out to you today simply to check in and let you know that as of today, we are not making any changes to our Return to School Plan.

On July 31st, we released our Return to School Plan and announced that we would be following Plan C: Academics Remote and Labs Blended. That plan has not changed, and we are looking forward to seeing our students soon with all of our safety precautions in place.

Principal Gaskill also shared his Welcome Back Message on August 3rd, which is full of valuable information about how to prepare for the 2020/2021 school year. You can see both our Return to School Guide and Principal Gaskill’s message on our web site here.

If you haven’t already, I encourage you to review both documents and bookmark that page as your reference for the most up-to-date information as it pertains to the COVID situation.

I understand that every family is unique, and it is possible that you still have questions. Please use this form to submit your questions so that we can get them answered by the right person as quickly as possible.

I would also like to take a moment to publicly thank everyone on our DACC staff. No matter what position each person holds, he or she has been working diligently to prepare for the start of school. We are all looking forward to beginning this school year, reconnecting with returning students, and meeting our new students. I also appreciate all of the students and parents who have been reaching out with questions. Your continued involvement, along with our staff’s dedication, is what will make this school year great. Thank you for all that you do and thank you for joining us for the 2020/2021 school year!

Best Regards,

Mary Beth Freeman
