Support The Calflora Database, a 501c3 non-profit

The Calflora Database is a unique resource for understanding plant diversity: we aggregate plant distributions from hundreds of sources. Together with independent data contributors, Calflora is able to provide millions of plant locations to users like you.

For instance, this map shows the distribution of plant species Navarretia squarrosa. Each blue dot represents an observation of the species, and came from one of Calflora's many data sources.

Here is a snapshot of just some of our organizational data contributors.

Why does Calflora have and continue to add so many datasets?

The breadth and depth of Calflora data sources make the database useful as a one-stop-shop. The list above is not static; our goal is to provide the most complete knowledge about wild plants that grow, or used to grow, in a specific area. Each data source helps us get closer to this goal.

Here is more information about some of Calflora's data sources.

Who at Calflora is responsible for all this work?

Datasets are continually added to the Calflora Database and Calflora staff do this work. It's a team effort uploading various file types and associated information. Your donations help fund this work; thank you for making a donation to Calflora today!
