WOW - - WHAT A WEEKEND!
We are excited to announce that If you build it, they WILL come!
First and foremost, a huge shout out to our Presenting Sponsor Mrs. Elizabeth Moran of Brushwood Stable and to our Gold Medal Sponsor, Stillman Volvo. These two wonderful sponsors have been with us for all 5 years and have been super loyal to this annual event! THANK YOU !!!! In addition to these two top tier supporters, we had a record amount of sponsorship come in from individuals and companies alike, for which we are very grateful. We hope we put on a good show for all of you and that you enjoyed every facet of this busy weekend!
Here is a recap of all the things that went on in addition to the 257 horses and riders (another all time high for us!) competing on the grounds of Plantation Field.
day 1 - FRIDAY
Friday we had CIC dressage in the Main Arena as well as dressage and show jumping for National divisions in nearby rings. A lunch was held for CIC Sponsors/Riders/Owners in the Stillman Volvo Tent and members of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, which Plantation Field Equestrian Events is a member of, were in attendance. It was great to see the local business community learning about and getting excited about our event!
FRIDAY NIGHT FESTIVITIES
Over 500 showed up for dinner and the 1st Annual Mechanical Bull Contest in which the Young Event Riders Team out lasted the rest! They won the $1000 prize money! Better luck next year to the fox hunters, the other eventers, and the steeplechasers! It was a great time had by all and we are SO SORRY the food ran out! We thought we would be okay having enough for 350 or so and had no idea so many MORE would show up! We know better for next year and will be prepared in the food department! The good news is that the beer didn't run out thanks to Mike at Waywood Beverage and THE CAMELTONES music was awesome!
day 2 - SATURDAY
Saturday we had the most perfect weather imaginable for a fab Cross Country Day with Spectators all over the place, including the VIP Hillside, the new Tailgating Area, The Vendor Village and Kids Corner! There was a delicious lunch spread for CIC Sponsors/Riders/Owners in the Stillman Volvo Sponsor Tent. Folks could have a seat and something to eat, and see the 3* horses finish over the Brushwood Stable Table into the Arena!
***Huge thanks go to Tremaine Cooper our Course Designer in the 3* and also Eric Bull, ETB Jumps, the Course Builder...both HUGE jobs!
***This was record attendance for XC Day and we loved every minute of it ! Our parking volunteers were from The Barn at Spring Brook Farm, one of our beneficiaries, and we want to thank them for all of their efforts coordinating all of those cars on Saturday and all weekend!
** People LOVED the Tailgating Section! We plan to expand and improve this area for 2013, with more room and all day gator shuttle service to the Shops! We awarded Three $50 Gift Cards from The Whip Tavern for the best Fall Festive Themes. Thanks KC from The Whip for judging! Those tailgaters really went all out in the creativity and enthusiasm department!
SATURDAY NIGHT SPONSOR PARTY
day 3 - SUNDAY
Sunday was another perfect day under sunny skies. In both the CIC2* and the CIC1*, the winners won impressively from gate to wire. Susan Beebee set the standard in the two-star on Wolf and Sharon White was unbeatable in the one-star on Severn Sky.
CIC Sponsors/Riders/Owners enjoyed the Stillman Volvo Tent for an amazing Brunch feast complete with Bloody Marys and the best seat in the house for the competition, PRO Bareback Puissance, Jousting, and Parade of Hounds. We would like say a huge thanks to PRO, Brandywine Valley Veterinary Hospital and Mr. Stewarts Cheshire Foxhounds for this lunchtime entertainment!
See Photo below of Caroline Martin WINNING the PRO Bareback Puissance contest clearing the huge red wall at 5'11" (let me remind you, that is without a saddle!...can you imagine?!) The $1000 prize money was given by Dr. Kevin Keane of Sports Medicine Associates.
***We want to thank Irish Olympian and grand prix rider Kevin Babington for helping Ed Holloway commentate the 3* jumping!
The day finished with Will Faudree being crowned the CIC3* winner in a competition that came down to the wire. Faudree and Jennifer Mosing's Pawlow put in a flawless effort over the weekend. They put forward a fourth place effort in the dressage and then added zero penalties in the jumping phases to score their biggest victory of the season so far. Five-time Olympian Karen O'Connor on Mandiba was second. Full Results of all weekend riders here
What can we say about PF volunteers? We could NOT do it without them and to show our appreciation we held a giveaway! Congratulations to EMILY KOCUBINSKI, winner of our volunteer raffle for a $1,000 trip to the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
The PF Merchandise shed (shed by Horizon Structures) was also a busy place and 4 super excited people won the RAFFLE and a lesson with their favorite Olympian! Thanks Karen, Boyd, Will and Phillip for donating not only the hour lesson but Olympic items which were hugely popular among bidders!
Thank you Stubben Custom Saddlery, Nunn Finer and Bit of Britain for providing the majority of the Silent Auction items!
Thanks to all and signing off until next year...KW for the Executive Committee!
All in all, it was truly the BEST. EVENT. EVER.
