10th Annual Dream-Maker Breakfast
Supports Dreamer Scholars
|
On March 15, the 10th Annual Dream-Maker Breakfast raised funds to sponsor Dreamer Scholars in the St. Vrain Valley School District. We'll provide comprehensive, year-round programming to support them to and through college! Thanks to our underwriters, table hosts, speakers, and guests for supporting our community.
Didn't get to make a gift or pledge? It's not too late -- and many more children need your help.

Many thanks to our event underwriters!

Career Readiness Bootcamp
Preps High Schoolers for Success
In March, 36 high school students from "I Have A Dream" and our partner organizations spent two Saturdays learning interview skills, resume writing, and creating a LinkedIn profile. The workshops and lessons were presented by Workforce Boulder County at the University of Colorado-Boulder Leeds School of Business, and concluded with mock interviews with community volunteers. Our thanks to all those who volunteered to prepare our students for the workforce!
Participants can apply for paid summer internships at local businesses who are hosting interns, including the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, CU-Boulder, Boulder Housing Partners, Boulder Public Library, the County's District Attorney's Office, Vertiba, and many more.
"I Have A Dream" supports youth with opportunities like these through our College and Career Department. In addition to the Career Readiness Bootcamp and paid summer internships, we arrange job shadows, college visits, college and scholarship application support, and more. We truly walk with our kids to and through post-secondary education...
and our results are amazing!

About the "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County
Since 1990, the award-winning "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has assisted 1,000 children from low-income areas in achieving their education and career goals by providing long-term personal and academic support, tutoring, mentoring and four-year tuition-assistance scholarships to each graduating student. The organization sponsors entire groups of students from elementary schools or from low-income housing sites and works with these children and their families from elementary school through high school graduation and then "to and through" college. Currently, there are 10 active "I Have A Dream" classes in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts. The "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has doubled expected graduation rates for its graduating classes of students and has awarded over $2 million in scholarships. The program follows the national model established in New York in 1981 by founder Eugene Lang.
