Plat applicants, we are currently monitoring the issue of available recordation appointment times, and have some ideas to improve recordation appointment availability for you.
Please only make one recordation appointment when your plat has final approval and your client is ready to record.
Plat recordations were one-on-one meetings prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which dramatically impacted us all in March of 2020. Since we did not want to delay the plat recordation process or reduce the number of available appointments, we began to allow the plat mylars to be delivered to 611 Walker anytime during the appointment week.
Planners review these recordation plats during that week and update applicants. Since the applicant no longer has to physically appear for a recordation meeting, it became very easy for applicants to book an appointment and have a courier deliver the mylar.
Earlier this year and considering the increased demand, we extended appointment availability from 30 days to 60 days. However, some applicants appear to be overbooking appointments, even before plat approval with plat names as Undecided or TBD. Since we now require applicants to provide a subdivision plat name when booking an appointment, we have also found that some applicants were making multiple bookings for each subdivision plat. Multiple bookings are resulting in cancellations at the last minute and impacts our ability to efficiently serve more customers. Please do not make multiple appointments for each plat.
Starting October 13th, the undecided and duplicate appointments will be deleted without further notice, which will open those times for other applicants' recordation appointments.
You may monitor appointment openings daily via TimeTap, for any new openings that have become available.
We have also opened appointment times beyond the 60-day window, for several months, to allow for more booking options.
To expedite the recordation process, applicants shall review the mylar and all required material for accuracy and completeness before recordation submission. A recordation application in Plat Tracker is required prior to dropping off the mylar for further processing. See more details on our recordation web page.
We are looking at other solutions for recordation appointment availability, and we are asking you, our applicants, to be considerate to others by not overbooking recordation appointments. Thank you.
