What a weekend for the GVBL!
Friday night kicked off the weekend's festivities with our GVBL Monte Carlo Night! The Desmond Hotel was the perfect host as a huge turnout had lots of laughs, good food, some great basketball stories from this past season, and a fun time gambling for prizes. And how about those baskets?! Shoutout to long time GV resident and volunteer Sandy Louderback, who spent the last two weeks putting all 70 baskets together for display! Beautiful! And it couldn't have been done without our generous GVBL community stepping up and donating those wonderful items. Awesome night! Can't wait for Monte Carlo Night 2023!

Sunday featured another packed house, this time at Great Valley Middle School, to watch three must-see matchups with a GVBL Championship on the line. The Bulls and Magic began the day to decide the Boys 5/6th Grade Division Championship. After four quarters, the Bulls celebrated winning it all after a 41-24 win. Congratulations to the Bulls on the win and what a season for the Boys 5/6th Division!

GVBL Championship Sunday
Standing room only at the middle school. It's only halftime of the B5/6 finals and the crowd stormed the court!
|
|
The following two games were just as good! In BOTH the Girls and Boys 3rd/4th Grade Divisions, the teams that made it out of the loser's bracket came up with one point wins. The Buckeyes saw several opportunities just rim out in the end of the contest allowing the Spartans to a 26-25 victory. The Gators hit a foul shot with .8 seconds left on the clock to seal a 29-28 OT win against the Wildcats.
Since GVBL playoffs are double-elimination, there will be final championship games in both divisions. Stay tuned for game details via email and the GVBL App.

Tournament Teams
The 29ers had an exciting come from behind win to close out Malvern League play on Saturday. Cooper Willey (17 points) and Noah Gardner (14 points) led the scoring, while Ian Powlick swished his free throws from the line and Kai Nakayama hit a key open shot late in the game. On Sunday, the 29ers won their first ICBA playoff game against Perkiomen Valley. It was a true team effort with all players scoring. We are excited to take on Twin Valley next weekend in the semifinals!
The Hive had an awesome weekend of hoops winning the Spring Tip off at CES and going undefeated along the way! The tournament concluded with a resounding 31-4 victory over WRA. There were many highlights throughout the weekend, with every girl competing hard for their team to bring offensive continuity and a suffocating defense that propelled the Hive to their second tournament win of the season. The Hive was led by Cecilia Chain, Hailey Shaughnessy, Katelyn Diamond and the tourney MVP Sadie Tengwall. Congrats to all the girls, next up is the trip to the state championship March 18-20.
The Storm had the weekend off but have their first round ICBA playoff game next weekend and are preparing for State Championships next weekend.
The 7th Grade Boys Tournament Team is winding down another successful season, having recently played in their 215th game together since 4th grade. The boys won the ICBA King of the Court Tournament in December, and just recently won the new Pottstown Presidents Day Clash Tournament. The boys went undefeated in that tournament behind the strong rebounding of Fouad Ismailia, the aggressive defense of Matt Banister, and the on-court leadership of Brendan Brook. The boys are now in the first round of the ICBA playoffs, will compete in the BYC Tournament later this week, and are preparing for the PA State Tournament March 18-20.

The Barrow Family - Greg, Sandi, Jack, & Ryan
|
|
Greg & Sandi both grew up in the area. Sandi is a proud GV alum. Greg owns an insurance agency, and Sandi is most proud of being a mom.
They first heard of GVCO when a little girl came to Jack’s preschool class with her Junior Hoopsters trophy. They knew immediately they had to get the boys involved, and it was love at first sight. The GVBL program was amazing & still is impressive today. Both boys played through high school. Ryan is still playing in the High School division.
In 2010 when GVCO started a youth football program with the Junior Patriots, Sandi & Greg knew their boys, 5 & 7 at the time, would be thrilled to jump on board. It was the best seven seasons ever with GVFL. Greg coached, and Sandi was a GVFL Board Member and League Representative for four seasons.
Not only playing the games & having fun over the years, but it is the life-long friends we have all made that are truly the magic of GVCO. It was essential to pass this spirit on to younger families by supporting GVCO and the new center.
We cannot wait to see all of the happy faces, young and old, at the new GVCO center.
