Plaza Pickup Service Launches this Friday!
Hello everyone!

We are excited to announce the start of our Plaza Pickup service starting this Friday, May 29th. This is our version of the “curbside pickup” permitted under San Mateo County’s orders for the next phase of shelter in place.
Our Plaza Pickup will be a contactless service only available by appointment . Plaza is how we refer to the open courtyard in front of Kepler’s and Cafe Borrone facing El Camino Real.

During this new phase, you can order books through our website and select a time window to pick up your order from the front of the bookstore. This will save you shipping charges, and you can get your books faster, since we will resume fulfilling orders from our store inventory. All orders must be prepaid and all assistance with orders must be handled by email or phone . Plaza Pickup Hours will be from 12 - 4pm Tuesday through Friday and 10am - 2pm on Saturdays.
The bookstore will NOT be open for browsing, and customers will not be allowed in the store. We are sorry but this means no bathrooms, no last minute purchases or changes, no returns, no in-person contact with our Kepler’s team. We will not be able to bring books to your cars (or bicycles or air-taxis).

This is how the Plaza Pickup service will work:

  1. Order your books: Order online at www.keplers.com and select the “Plaza Pickup” option.
  2. Schedule your pickup: After the order is placed, you’ll receive an email notification that your order is pending in our system. Once our staff has processed your order and packed your books, you will receive another email notification with a link to schedule your pickup window. We are using a third-party software application called Schedulicity, and you will have the ability to sign up for a 30-minute pickup window using the link we will email you.
  3. Pick up your books: After scheduling a pickup window, all you need to do is walk over to the Plaza and pick up your order from a table outside our side doors. Your order will be in a bag clearly labeled with your full name. We will have signage on the Plaza so you can easily find the table.
  4. Be safe and honor the public health mandate: When picking up your order, please please wear a mask and maintain at least six feet of distance from others at all times. We are relying on you to comply with this important public health mandate.
  5. Call or email us for any questions: For any customer service issues or questions, please contact us at [email protected] or 650-324-4321. During Plaza Pickup hours, we will have limited staff inside the bookstore to take your call.

The health and safety of our staff and customers is our first priority. We have implemented CDC-recommended guidelines for cleaning protocols, as well as PPE requirements for staff, during store operations. All books will be handled by our staff wearing gloves and masks to keep them in pristine condition.

We are regularly adding new books, new reviews, and curating new collections on our website, so please continue to visit us online to  buy books , buy  gift cards , and renew/start your  Literary Circle membership . You might enjoy  our buyer’s book-of-the-month selections new books from our front tables New York Times bestsellers, and our  new kids’ corner.  If you need any help, please email  service@keplers .com.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
