Dear Neighbors,

You may have noticed that Pleasant Valley Parkway has recently undergone some major improvements and I wanted to provide you with an update.

Firstly, I’m happy to announce that the Pleasant Valley Stormwater Management Project is almost complete.

Crews have also been on Pleasant Valley Parkway resetting sunk and broken curbs, leveling storm basin and addressing drainage in preparation for the repaving of the section of the street that runs from Justice Street to Roger Williams Hospital.

Crews are finishing the install of new ADA compliant crosswalks and work will begin soon to install raised crosswalks at the bridges. The painted bike lanes and current street direction will remain unchanged.

In addition, the small island at the base of Fallon Avenue is being shortened. During several of my monthly community meetings, residents expressed concerns regarding safe navigation around this island. It's my hope that by shortening this area, the turning radius will be increased for better safety.

A special thank you to the Friends of Pleasant Valley Parkway for the wonderful job they did last weekend, while maintaining social distancing rules, replanting the island vegetation before work crews arrived to shorten the island.

Also for those members of our community who have signed up for a tree through the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program “PNPP” please know the Spring planting will take place. Homeowners have the option of planting it themselves with instructions, or the forestry crew will complete the planting. If you have questions please contact your tree captain.

I hope that you are all well and following the Governors precautions related to COVID-19. Please take care of yourself, your loved ones, and check in on your neighbors as we navigate these challenging times. We will get through this together.

My office has created a resource guide, please visit council.providenceri.gov for the latest updates, and do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.

Sincerely,
