I would like to invite you to a special event that I am sponsoring for my sister Elizabeth Colbert Busch's congressional campaign.  I am so proud of her desire to serve the people of our home state of South Carolina.

Lulu and I have been through a lot together, and I know she is a bright, competent, caring woman who will work hard on behalf of all the citizens of South Carolina's 1st Congressional District.   This is an open seat due to the former Republican Congressman's appointment to the U.S. Senate. There are three Democrats and sixteen Republicans running in the Primary, including former Governor and renowned hike-lover Mark Sanford.  Our chances look good.

It is rare for me to take an active role in anyone's political ambitions other than my own. But this is different -  beyond a brother's love, I truly believe Lulu is the best candidate to represent my beloved Lowcountry in the United States Congress.

Details on the event and Elizabeth Colbert Busch's bio can be found below.  Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you on February 22nd.

On May 7th, the citizens of South Carolina's 1st Congressional District will have the opportunity to select their next Representative in the U.S. Congress.  This was due to Governor Nikki Haley's decision to appoint former Representative, Tim Scott, to fill an open seat in the U.S. Senate.

This resulted in a need for a special election in the Lowcountry, with the Democratic primary to be held on March 19th.  Elizabeth Colbert Busch felt compelled to enter the contest as a Democratic Party Candidate.  She has been a decades-long resident of the area since her family moved to the state in 1969.  She brings a wealth of success in business with a track record of bringing high-paying jobs to the region.

Elizabeth is running for Congress because she believes that we are in real danger of squandering the tremendous legacy left to us by the Greatest Generation. Elizabeth understands that the extreme partisanship and constant gridlock-rapidly becoming a way-of-life in Washington-does a grave disservice to those who have come before us.
