LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON IS NOW

AN HISTORIC CLIMBING AREA

Mark your calendar for September 25th, 2024, when lower Little Cottonwood Canyon will go down in history as the first recreational climbing area in America to be listed in the National Register of Historical Places – a truly remarkable accomplishment!

This initiative celebrates the enduring legacy of climbing in LCC, which continues to thrive today. By acknowledging the historical significance of LCC climbing and its surrounding landscape, we emphasize the importance of preserving and safeguarding this special place in the hearts and minds of Utah residents.

Join the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance, Mayor Jenny Wilson, members of the Alpenbock Climbing Club, and the State Historic Preservation Office for speeches honoring the rich history of Little Cottonwood climbing, followed by a leisurely hike along the one-mile Alpenbock Loop Trail.
