Hello Dexter,

This upcoming Thursday, November 28, we will celebrate Thanksgiving! Let us pause to remember the abundant blessings God has poured into our lives.

Thanksgiving is more than a feast; it is a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks for the gift of family. Psalm 100:4 encourages us to “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless his name!”

Thanksgiving is a time to step into God’s presence with gratitude, cherishing the loved ones He has placed in our lives.

Spending Thanksgiving with family offers an opportunity to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories. Around the table, we share stories, laughter, and sometimes tears. These moments echo the wisdom of Ecclesiastes 3:1, which reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Thanksgiving is a season for togetherness—a time to embrace love, forgiveness, and unity in our families.

In the spirit of gratitude, let us remember that Thanksgiving also calls us to serve and bless others. As we count our blessings, we are reminded of

1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Let Thanksgiving inspire us to show kindness, share our abundance, and extend the joy of gratitude beyond our homes, reflecting the love of Christ in our actions.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with love, peace, and the presence of God.

Sincerely,

Pastor Dexter Royes

Thanksgiving Yams

You probably recognize the turkey as the star of the Thanksgiving dinner. However, I'm bringing attention to the Thanksgiving yams, a buttery-rich brown sugar mix of sweet potatoes with soul food spices.

Is it even an authentic Thanksgiving meal without candied yams

Fall Health Tips:

Keep Your Skin Moisturized

Here are some fall health tips for dry skin as it gets colder:

Keep your skin hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and apply moisturizer often.

Take shorter, cooler showers. Hot water can strip away your skin’s natural oils, so keep showers short and cool.

Use a humidifier. A humidifier can add moisture to the air, keeping your skin hydrated.

Avoid harsh soaps and detergents. These can remove your skin’s natural oils, so use gentle products.

Exfoliate often. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, which helps moisturizers penetrate deeper.

Wear sunscreen. Sun exposure can damage skin and make it more prone to dryness.

See a doctor if your skin is severely dry or doesn’t improve with home treatments.
