For nearly a decade, AdventWord has inspired followers of Jesus who wish to add an accessible prayer practice to their daily routine each Advent. During this holy, busy season, disciples are invited to find small moments of reflection to stay connected to their personal faith, to others and to God with this worldwide, collaborative, visual Advent calendar based on daily prompts from Forward Movement.

| Diocese of Western NC Coat & Work Boot Drive | | |
With the arrival of fall and falling temperatures, the Diocese of Western North Carolina is holding a winter coat and work boot drive with the hope of providing much-needed coats and boots to people who need them in the western part of our state. They have asked for our help, so we will collect donations at the upcoming 210th Annual Convention in Winston-Salem.
Here's what's needed:
- NEW winter coats of all sizes
- NEW women's work boots, sizes: 6,7,8
- NEW men's work boots, sizes: 8,9,10
- Please no used items
Donations can also be dropped off (Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm) at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, c/o Archdeacon Brenda Gilbert, 258 W Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052
The Diocese of Western North Carolina will be collecting coats and boots through December 15. Thank you for helping support our neighbors to the west!
| | Reparations and Restitution Bible Study | |
November 17, 6:30-7:45 p.m., on Zoom
Come and practice community during the last session before convention of the Reparations and Restitution Ministry’s Bible study! Together, we’ll explore the work of Jesus in the Gospels and contemplate the implications of our role as his followers. The final gathering will take place in person on November 20 as part of the Thursday evening diocesan convention programming.
With open hands and hearts, we look forward to fellowshipping and opening up the Scriptures with you.

THURSDAY NIGHT CONVENTION PROGRAM
Everyone is invited to begin convention with a softened heart and welcoming the Holy Spirit by joining us for an evening of discipleship filled with teaching, community building, worship and music facilitated by the Reparations and Restitution Ministry. The program begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, at The Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem.

Michael Rich, MD, MPH, is a pediatrician, media researcher and founder of the Digital Wellness Lab who has become known as "The Mediatrician." How do we raise healthy, grounded kids in an age of constant digital connection? With insight from both science and lived experience, Rich offers a thoughtful, hopeful vision for navigating screens, social media and online culture. In a world of distraction and overload, this conversation will speak to the deeper call to persevere in love, presence and intentional living.

Friday, November 28, 7 p.m., St. Paul's, Louisburg
Joe Newberry will perform banjo, bluegrass and folk music as part of St. Paul's Fall benefit Concert Series. After the concert, attendees will have an opportunity to make contributions and interact with the performers and the beneficiaries (all 501(c)3 organizations). Concert contributions received will be equally distributed between three community groups: The Help Center NC, We are Down Home North Carolina - Franklin County Chapter and The Ben Franklin Society.

You are warmly invited to Trinity's upcoming Advent Retreat, "Be Still and Know," a special time to reflect, meditate and participate in group sharing as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. A light breakfast is included at 9 a.m, and the program will start at 9:30 a.m.

The Mission Endowment Grant is a permanent endowment created for the specific purpose of establishing “the Episcopal presence of Christ in communities in ways that brings the community to see Christ’s presence among them,” including
- Strategic partnerships between diocesan and outside entities, including interfaith and secular entities;
- Companion relationships; and
- Partnership ministries of congregations, institutions and organizations of the diocese.
