Mr. Holmes and I would like to share that we have so enjoyed seeing our parents and students when you come to drop off and pick up the distance learning packets. In Mr. Holmes' words, "It has been wonderfully joyful to see some of our students in their cars as we miss them so very much!" - Ms. Lacey
I would like to thank all of our Westpark families and community for your patience and understanding as we steer through a very difficult time. Our teachers, parents, and staff have done an amazing job of providing our students with the best distance learning possible given the speed in which it needed to be delivered. We are working through all of the bumps and are on a much smoother path. Please continue to work with us as we finish up this school year. I know things are not as they typically are and students may not get to experience what they normally would as we come to the end of the year. Unfortunately, with the limitations that we are facing things will be a bit different. I apologize from the bottom of my heart for this.

Parents please make sure that you are checking your students distance learning packets and/or their online classroom work. Even though students are not attending school daily, they must complete the work and turn it in when required as this is how they earn their 4th quarter grades. One concern I have heard from 3rd-5th grade teachers is that quite a few students are online, but not completing their assignments. Students are picking and choosing the ones they want to complete. They need to complete all of the assignments. It would be a great idea to email your child's teacher once a week to check on classroom assignment completion.

A huge thank you to our cafeteria staff for working diligently every day to feed our students breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not only are they working on site when most staff are not, but they are doing it with a smile! I'd also like to thank all of the staff working at Westpark for student supervision of those students of essential workers in need of child care.

Stay safe and healthy!
Stand up & Speak out!

Southern Kern Unified School District has a policy to prevent bullying! Our goal is to provide a quick and easy way for students and parents to report bullying or safety concerns anonymously to their school. SKUSD has an app, STOPit, for students to use for reporting bullying incidents. The app is available for students to use on their Chromebooks in grades 4th and 5th grade. Parents and students can also download the app on their personal electronic device using Google Play or the Apple App Store. We recommend that parents of students in grade K-3 get the app and assist their child in reporting.
