During the weekend of November 3, we need to close Route 37 East, from I-295 to I-95, as we slide into place the bridge carrying Route 37 East over the Pawtuxet River in Cranston. Route 37 West will not be affected. We’re asking the public to seek alternate routes during this operation that begins Friday night, November 3 and continues through the day on Monday, November 6.

Airport Connector, Warwick
Motorists can anticipate right shoulder closures for landscaping on both directions of I-95, between the Airport Connector on and off-ramps, and on the Airport Connector, from I-95 to Post Road, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bridge work on Jefferson Boulevard north and south, between the Airport Connector on and off-ramps, involves a right lane closure during the same time period. In addition, sidewalk work continues with partial lane closures on Post Road from Warwick Avenue to the Airport entrance, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We’re continuing to waterproof the Henderson Bridge deck and build the second half of the Massasoit Avenue roundabout. What we’re doing at the roundabout involves drainage, electrical work, curbing, and sidewalks. We will also finish the concrete that we placed on the substructure walls by grinding off any imperfections and placing grout, as needed. No traffic impacts are anticipated for any of these planned operations.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence
Bridge demolition continues at the old I-95 North Viaduct bridge abutment and piers and the Smith Street Bridge. Noise is anticipated during these operations as are alternating lane closures on I-95, from Exits 37A to Exit 39A, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Weekdays from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Park Street north remains closed from Hayes Street to Smith Street, to allow us to do sidewalk and wall work. Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport
Drainage work continues with temporary lane shifts along JT Connell South from the JT Connell Connector to Van Zandt Avenue, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Underground utility work is also planned as is wetland restoration and drainage work along the closed “road to nowhere.” Traffic signal work will also be taking place sitewide, but with a focus on the Halsey Boulevard/JT Connell Connector intersection, with temporary lane shifts and construction vehicles entering and exiting the work site, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence
On Sunday night from 8 p.m.-6 a.m., we’re expecting a crane delivery that we’ll use to install the beams for the Route 6 East to Route 10 South bridge over Amtrak. This will prompt a right lane closure on Route 10 South, from the Westminster Street overpass to the Union Avenue off-ramp. Otherwise, we’ll be busy paving portions of the 6/10, with various lane closures on both side of Route 10, from the Westminster Street overpass to the Atwells Avenue overpass, Monday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. During the day, motorists can expect alternating lane closures on Route 6 East and West, from the 6/10 split to Hartford Avenue, to install median barriers and do drainage work, Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick
Bridge Group 51A: Pontiac Avenue to Post Road (see photo, above)
During the weekend of November 3, we need to close Route 37 East, from I-295 to I-95, to slide into place the bridge that we built off site that carries Route 37 East over the Pawtuxet River. Route 37 West will not be affected, but the ramps from I-295, Route 2 and Pontiac Avenue will be. We’re advising motorists to seek alternate routes during the operation that begins on Friday night, November 3 at 7 p.m. and extends through the day on Monday, November 6.
Next week, we’ll have alternating lane closures on Route 37, from Power Road to the Pawtuxet River, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for drainage work at the top of the Route 37 West on-ramp from Pontiac Avenue and road widening on Route 37 East at the south shoulder of the Pontiac Avenue Bridge, carrying Route 37 East and West over Pontiac Avenue. Other planned overnight activities include milling and paving the approaches for the Jefferson Boulevard North Bridge, carrying Route 37 West over Jefferson Boulevard, and the Route 37 West off-ramp to Pontiac Avenue. Daytime curbing and sidewalk work also continues on Pontiac Avenue, with alternating lane closures from Sockanosset Cross Road to Route 37 East, weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Bridge Group 51B: I-295 area (see photo, below)
Tonight, motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. so we can set up new traffic patterns on I-295 South, in the vicinity of Exits 3A and B (Route 37), and on I-295 North, from Exit 3A to just north of Route 37. Come Saturday morning, October 28, all lanes will shift to the right on I-295 South and to the left on I-295 North. On Sunday-Thursday nights, bridge work at the Cranston Park West Bridge, carrying Route 3 over Cranston Street involves left lane closures and noise from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., we’ll have alternating one-way traffic on Cranston Street, below Route 37, for work at the Cranston Street Bridge, carrying Route 37 over Cranston Street, and at the Cranston Street Ramp Bridge, carrying the Route 37 Ramp over Cranston Street.

Route 146, Lincoln/North Smithfield
Bridge steel placement, involving both overnight lane and road closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., continues to dominate our activities at this project. Motorists can anticipate the closure of the Route 146 North Service Roads, from Route 99 to Route 116, on Sunday night, Route 146 North and South at the I-295 interchange, Monday to Wednesday nights, and the Route 146 North Service Roads, at the I-295 interchange on Thursday night. Please follow signed detours. We’ll also have alternating lane closures for steel placement on I-295 at the Route 146 interchange, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Rounding out our operations will be daytime road construction with alternating lane closures on Route 146, from Route 146A to the Massachusetts line, Monday-Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the closure of Sayles Hill Road for drainage installation during the same time period. Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence
Expect right lane and temporary ramp closures for bridge deck repairs on I-195 West, from Broadway to South Main Street, on Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please follow signed detours. Other planned operations without lane closures include excavating and drainage work for the Gano Street shared used path, and painting structural steel at one of the bridge spans.
