I am pleased to share the wonderful news that Seth Luna will be joining St. Mark's as our Director of Music Ministry in January 2023!
A little bit about Seth...he is a Filipino–American who was born in the Middle East. A committed Episcopalian, Seth has a passion to serve and grow the Church. He currently serves a Music Director and Organist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX and as Assistant Musician and lay preacher at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Richardson, TX. In December, he will complete a Master of Sacred Music at Perkins School of Theology. Seth studied organ performance and harpsichord at Wheaton College, IL and served as Music Director and Organist at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Barrington Hills, IL.
Seth impressed the search committee, choir, vestry members and others who attended his audition with his skills as a musician, organist and choral director. He brings to his vocation as a musician a deep call to serve and Christ-centered spirituality. Seth has the training and talents to help us realize the vision for music at St. Mark's that is vibrant, growing and inclusive. He has both a love for traditional Anglican music that is a core part of the St. Mark's music program and as well as for other expressions of musical content and styles that serve to connect people with each other and God. He is particularly excited about the opportunity and challenge of music at our 1 pm Spanish-language service and we continue to grow and live into being a multi-cultural community.
Seth's first Sunday at St. Mark's will be January 15. In the meantime, he will be completing his degree at Perkins, concluding his responsibilities with congregations in Dallas and moving to Illinois.
Let us give thanks to God for the work of ministry and being the body of Christ as we look forward to the future of our music program at St. Mark's.
