What do you do when someone you respect, admire and love is murdered for a mere $400? Who would commit such a horrible senseless act? These are the questions Irv's family is left to ponder.
The New Jersey Moving Industry lost a true gentleman! We are saddened and emotionally moved to action by his story.
Irving Catlow, Jr., 74, of Randolph, died on April 1, 2017, nearly five months to the day after he was brutally attacked at his furniture delivery business. Irv was recently laid to rest, with one of the moving vans used as his hearse.
Catlow Movers is a well- respected family run business and has been a proud member of the Jersey City community since 1932. They have also been a member of the New Jersey Warehousemen & Movers Association since it was founded in 1969.
Authorities and distraught relatives are pleading for help after Irv succumbed to his injuries that resulted from the robbery last November at his office.
"He needs justice," son Mark Catlow said, through tears. "Hard worker...if they would've came in and asked for the money, said they needed it for their families, he would've given it to them." The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be complications of blunt force injuries to the head.
On November 4, 2016, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Jersey City police were dispatched to Irv's office on a report of an armed robbery. Arriving officers found him conscious with multiple wounds to his face and head. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was treated, then transferred for additional treatment at Morristown Medical Center where he remained until his death.
The initial investigation revealed that two men entered the office between 8:10 and 8:30 a.m. Irv described one of the suspects as a short black male and the other as a tall black male, and one of the suspects was armed with a chrome handgun.
Upon his death, the case was turned over to the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit, which is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
