Jessica Poveda is Co-founder and Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner for Grace Family Medicine, Wellington’s first Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice.
Jessica was born in Miami and spent much of her childhood in West Palm Beach, FL. Jessica completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at the University of Florida in Gainesville; before returning to south Florida and obtaining her advanced nursing degree at Florida Atlantic University, she spent years working at UF Health Shands Hospital in the cardiac unit and later as a pediatric hematology-oncology nurse.
When the opportunity for a leadership position in a primary care setting presented itself Jessica realized her passion for building meaningful patient relationships would be found in family medicine. It was there that her desire to educate patients with a focus on preventative care led her to obtain her certification as a diabetes educator and motivated her to pursue an advanced degree and become a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. After completing her advanced degree Jessica worked at Florida Atlantic University’s Community Health Center in West Palm Beach, FL as a Nurse Practitioner and faculty member allowing her to continue to educate the next generation of healers. Additionally Jessica became the Director transforming the clinic to become a true medical home for many who are underserved and a training center that embodies community healthcare.
Jessica aims to change the manner in which healthcare is delivered, putting the emphasis on keeping people well rather than solely stepping in and treating the sick. Her professional interest and area of expertise include preventative medicine, women’s health, diabetes education and a holistic approach to care. Jessica enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband and her 2 amazing son’s Christian and Jaxon. She also enjoys cooking, reading, dancing, learning about nutrition, spending time at the beach and attending Mass at St. Rita’s Church in Wellington, FL.
Grace Family Medicine is a family owned and operated business located in Wellington, FL. Jessica works alongside her Father-in-Law, Dr. Leon Poveda, M.D., Board Certified Family Physician and her husband Carlos Poveda, MHA, a seasoned healthcare executive. Throughout their careers, the Poveda family noticed that insurance and the government continue to add barriers, complexity and cost to the delivery of healthcare to families. Not surprisingly, as complexities increased their ability to spend time with patients decreased. This situation prompted them to offer a new practice model called Direct Primary Care - it’s the direct relationship between you and your healthcare provider, just like how it used to be. Through a fair transparent monthly fee, they are able to provide personalized comprehensive primary care.
