The Growing Cost of Special Business Tax Break Spending and the Impacts on the Commonwealth's Ability to invest in Housing and Benefits: The Commonwealth forgoes a large amount of potential revenue each year through spending on business tax breaks aimed at supporting economic development in Massachusetts. Learn more about the key findings within this report and receive updates from the 2016 Kids Count. Presented by Mary Tittmann, Director of Outreach at Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center

Take a Selfie that Matters: Today, nearly one in seven children in Massachusetts is growing up in poverty.  Although a bed may not seem like the most pressing social issue, studies have shown that the lack of a good night sleep plays a negative role in a child's development and his/her education.  Learn more about A Bed for Every Child program and the 250 Beds for 250 Kids by Christmas initiative.  Presented by Karla DiDonato, Director of Development at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless   

Legislative Updates from the Coalition :

House Bill 1129: An Act to Establish a Bill of Rights for People Experiencing Homelessness.   House Bill 529: An Act relative to assisting elders in the Commonwealth.  House Bill 4506, in line item 7004-0101 to change policies that require many families with children to stay in a place "not meant for human habitation" before qualifying for Emergency Assistance. Presented by Kelly Turley, Director of Legislative Advocacy at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless
