Ongoing Action on the #EveryoneNeedsID Campaign

Even though formal legislative sessions ended on July 31st for this two-year legislative cycle, we still are pushing the Massachusetts House of Representatives to pass the Mass ID access bill, Senate Bill 2568, An Act to provide identification to homeless youth and families , during informal sessions . The bill calls on the Registry of Motor Vehicles to waive the $25 fee for Mass IDs for applicants who are experiencing homelessness, and to accept alternative verifications of Massachusetts residency from state agencies and social service agencies for people without a permanent address.

Even if you already signed the original online action, please sign the updated one-minute online action and/or make calls today, asking Speaker Bob DeLeo (617-722-2500) and House Ways and Means Chair Jeff Sánchez (617-722-2990) to take action on this important bill. Read more about the bill here.

We have been working closely with Representative Kay Khan, Senate President Emerita Harriette Chandler, and others to get this bill across the finish line this session, as we know the bill would make an important contribution toward promoting human and civil rights for people experiencing homelessness.

Thank you for your collaboration!
