Hello Wildcat Families!

One of the great undertakings we have been working on this year has been the new Middle School elective course offerings. A huge thank-you to Mrs. Dyer and Mrs. Bauchman-Lopez for all the hard work they have been doing behind the scenes to help in scheduling the Middle School elective classes. The hallways have been filled with excitement about the new elective courses! We are happy to provide our students with the opportunity to personalize their learning experience here at Saint Andrew! Please know that we are working on honoring your requests for course changes and hope to have finalized schedules very soon.
Many of you have been asking about changes to the Computer/Technology courses at the school, particularly about what ages will be having Computer Class throughout the week. The Computer/Technology class is now being offered from 3 rd  grade to 8 th  grade. This is so we can better prepare our students for proficiency in keyboarding skills, while at the same time meeting the TCCB-ED bell-to-bell minute requirements for the upper grades.
This year, Technology is a required semester long class for all 6 th  through 8 th  grade students (0.5 credits). The 3rd -5th grade students will have a Computers class once or twice a week. For the younger students (2nd grade and lower), technology will remain a part of the curriculum, but these students will not have a scheduled Computer/Technology class. Instead, the teachers of these grade levels will integrate technology into their main curriculum areas, per TCCB-ED guidelines.
For the purposes of integrating technology into the classroom, Saint Andrew utilizes a shared set of iPads for each class to use in grades 5K through 3 rd .  The teachers integrate technology within the curriculum when utilizing the iPads during center time or classroom instruction. Technology is a wonderful tool and can be a very effective classroom resource.

iPad availability for students at Saint Andrew:

  • Shared set of iPads for students in grades 5k – 3rd
  • One-to-one iPads for students in grades 4th -- 5th (iPads remain at school)
  • One-to-one iPads for students in grades 6th – 8th (iPads go home with student for assignment/homework use)

It has been so wonderful to be a part of the Saint Andrew community! Thank you for making me feel welcomed, thank you for your prayers, and thank you for your continued support of the school.  God bless you all!

Mr. Paul Vanasse
Assistant Principal

The theme of the Diocese 50th anniversary celebration is: Eucharist Makes us the Church.
