Dear Saint Andrew Families,

Happy Tuesday of Lent! The biggest news of the week is that tomorrow, April 3, 2019, we will resume our celebration of the Mass in the church. All students in grades 5K – 8th will celebrate. For now, our 4K students will celebrate on Thursdays until we are able to accommodate them in the church with the rest of the student body. Students in 3K will continue with their celebration of the Mass on the first Wednesday of the month. I hope you are able to join us at any and all Masses. Tomorrow, our student members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) will be in charge of the liturgy. Fr. John Shanahan will be our celebrant.

A “Café Wellness Plan” Initiative was started recently by Administration, parents, and members of ECI – Educational Catering Inc. A focus group was created to look at our current cafeteria services. Its objective: To upgrade the lunch and wellness services in three key areas: Menu Selection and Food Offerings; Facility and Equipment Upgrades; and Wellness Education. Through much collaboration and strong support from our business partner – ECI, this initiative will be launched on April 22, 2019. We are happy to share that we are on our way to making some positive changes that will benefit our students. Please click here for more information. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Please join us on Thursday evening, April 4, 2019, 6 p.m., for our Advisory Council Forum on Safety and Security. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our Crisis Management Plan (CMP) with our Saint Andrew families. On Friday, the 5th, Mrs. King and I will be competing in a “Dinosaur Relay.” Please join us at 2 p.m. in the gym for this exciting event! Last but not least, our Annual Auction will take place this Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 6-10 p.m. at Ridglea Country Club . We hope you have made plans to attend this annual fund raiser for our beautiful school!

May God bless you and your beautiful families,

Mrs. Macias
This is an exciting week at Saint Andrew as we prepare for our biggest fundraiser of the year. The auction committee has worked extremely hard to make this event spectacular. Your students should be excited about this year's Fund A Project which would allow us to transform our current classrooms into innovative and collaborative 21st century learning spaces.

Collaborative learning involves student-centered learning and promotes active participation in the entire learning process. Students work in pairs or small groups which builds community in the classroom; research proves that student interaction throughout the learning process fosters understanding and mastery. These academic opportunities teach students to think critically, solve open-ended problems, present solutions, and defend their positions.

In addition to the academic benefits, collaborative classrooms promote maturity and confidence. I look forward to watching these visions come to life throughout the campus. Thank you for your support of Saint Andrew Catholic School. We are blessed to have such generous families who support our mission.
LENTEN SOUP AND SANDWICH
During Lent, our Saint Andrew Parish offers a Soup and Sandwich meal after the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Wednesdays in the Parish Hall.

The SAS Home and School Association is responsible for providing one of these meals. This year our lunch is on Wednesday, April 3rd .

Remember, you are always welcome to attend any of these weekly lunches...there is a suggested donation of $2 to eat the lunch and the money goes directly to the Food Pantry.
