Dear Saint Andrew Families,

It was a pleasure meeting our grandparents and grandfriends last Friday! I also got to experience my first Butterfly Ball here at Saint Andrew on Saturday evening. It was wonderful to see our beautiful young ladies accompanied by their fathers, grandfathers, uncles and family friends.
This past weekend a few of our best and brightest competed in the District Math Counts Competition at TCU against Fort Worth’s finest mathletes – Eric Campbell, Jude White, Sama’an Tarsha, Elizabeth Dyer, Camile Gracia, and Mo Conlin. Jude White earned recognition for being one of the Top 12 competitors at the event. Also, this weekend the following students received the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist here at Saint Andrew: Sophia Garza, Elina Chopra, William O’Keefe, Andrew Soyer, Emma Lott, Conor Blanchette, and Noah Chavez. Congratulations to all!

May God bless all of our Wildcat students and their families.

Love and Prayers,

Mrs. Macias
Did you know that our middle school students get the opportunity to experience hands-on science experiments in a state-of-the-art science lab? Rose Alaniz, seventh and eighth grade science teacher, can be found on campus on the weekends and almost every evening. She is a master at interactive student notebooks and engages her students with hands-on learning.
Seventh grade students recently dissected a cow eye. This week they are preparing to dissect a frog. The 8th grade students built balloon powered vehicles this week and performed trial runs of to measure their performance capabilities.
Eighth grader Cooper Sorokolit says, "I really like the creativity that we get to have in Mrs. Alaniz's classroom. It's just open to everything and it connects to a lot of things we are learning about. We were lucky to dissect fetal pig last year, which many schools don't get to do"

Abby Cawyer, a seventh grader added, "We are doing a lot things that we didn't get to do in the younger grades. Our dissections are very different and cool to see what's inside."
Thank you Mrs. Alaniz for creating a dynamic, challenging, and engaging environment for our middle school students.

NJHS students will be selling St. Valentine Grams this week. Surprise your student or buy grams for their friends.

"DINO-MITE" BOOK FAIR
Our Dino-mite book fair was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who supported our school and our commitment to literacy. We exceeded our goal and grossed $20,176 and donated over 200 books to our classrooms ! Get ready to see Mrs. Macias and Mrs. King in a relay while wearing inflatable dinosaur costumes!

Thank you to everyone who purchased books at the fair or online through our school homepage. Your purchases will greatly benefit our library and our students. Thank you!

This fair could not have been as successful without our wonderful volunteers. From set up to tear down, showing up for extra shifts or just calling in to see if an extra hand was needed, this group went above and beyond.
Mrs. Alvarez, SAS Librarian, would like to acknowledge the following people for their extra dedication to our book fair:

The Howell family
The Sanchez family
The White family
April Allen (our roaming dinosaur)
Aurelia Albers
Ann Bjelland
Kate Dealaman
Estella Garza
Debbie Miles
Karen Schroder
Angela Wonderly

Again, Mrs. Alvarez thanks you for your dedication to our students and creating life-long readers!
