Greetings!

Our last newsletter outlined the tours upcoming for Saturday July 11 and Friday- Saturday Aug 14-15 (see below for tour, eating and sight-seeing information). This newsletter is being sent to provide waivers --there are now two-- for you and your partner/spouse to sign in advance of these events.

Please read and follow the instructions from Events Chair Duffy Miller. Place the signed waivers in your Porsche now so you won't forget to bring them on July 11. And don't forget your masks!

Requirement for Waivers in 2020

Dear GMR Members:



If you are planning to participate in any GMR-PCA events this year, please beware of the following requirements, print and sign the appropriate forms, and bring them with you to the club event. The two forms are linked below.

1.  The Communicable Disease Exposure and Infection Assumption of Risk, Hold Harmless, Release, Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement . Given the national Covid-19 pandemic, PCA is requiring all members to sign a special release prior to participating in any club event or activity. The form only has to be completed and signed once, and will apply to all GMR-PCA activities through May 26, 2021.  NOTE: All participating Individuals must sign this form - meaning, each member and spouse/partner member, must individually sign this form! It is not sufficient to have only the driver or primary member complete the form.

Please have each person with whom you participate in club activities complete the form, and bring it to the July 11th drivers’ meeting before the club event.

2.  The PCA Release and Waiver of Liability form (2009) . This is the now-familiar form that we all sign prior to each event. Please print the form, and enter the event name/location and date at the top of the form. Have each participant in your car print their name, and sign the form. Bring this form with you to each event in which you participate this year, filled out specifically for the event. 

For example: for the July tour, enter  Berlin, VT to Windsor, VT Tour , and  July 11th, 2020  on the top of the form, then  print your name (and the name of any rider in your car), and both should sign the bottom of the form. 

Give the form to the event leader at the drivers’ meeting (Duffy Miller for July 11). All forms will be collected and the event leader will sign and date all forms as a witness. 

Participants: You are encouraged to stay home if you are at higher risk for severe illness, if you are sick, or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.

Updated GMR Summer Tour Schedule

From Events Chair Duffy Miller:

Saturday July 11

Driving tour starting in Berlin and ending in Windsor.

The GMR PCA will hold its first driving tour of the season on Saturday, July 11. Given the ongoing COVID-19 guidelines, the event will focus on the drive itself, ensuring that the health guidelines recommended are followed.

Meeting place: we will meet at the Maplewood Gas / Truck Stop just off I-89, Exit 7, in Berlin, at 8:45 a.m. Take Exit 7, proceed to the first light, turn right, and Maplewood is about 1/4 mile on the right side of the road. There is plenty of parking and easily accessible gas pumps.

The balance of the tour route is currently being developed and will start in Berlin, and end in Windsor. NOTE: If you are making a reservation for a meal or a tour,

Drivers’ meeting at 8:45 a.m. with the drive to start at 9.00 a.m. You will need to sign the PCA and Communicable Disease Waiver forms.

Drivers and passengers are asked to wear masks at the drivers’ meeting, and to follow distancing guidelines.

Dining and visiting local sites after the tour is On-Your-Own: Securing a venue for 30-50 club members at this time was not possible given the current health restrictions. Restaurants are still only offering take-out or limited seated dining. So, there is no official luncheon or event after the drive. However - there are numerous places to visit, eat, picnic, and tour in the greater Windsor area, and members are encouraged to make arrangements to eat or visit local sites on their own, or when possible in small groups with other members.

Please note - if you plan to dine at any local establishment, reservations are needed, and seating will be limited. Plan ahead, and plan early to make sure you are able to enjoy sites or the restaurant of your choice once the tour ends. If you are considering takeout, you may want to plan a picnic in the region.

Saturday August 14 and Sunday August 15

August 14th and 15th, Friday evening and Saturday, tour starting and ending in West Dover, VT

Club member Bob Rubin has put together a stayover at the Grey Ghost Inn, in West Dover on Friday, August 14, and will lead a tour through the roads of Vermont’s southern region on Saturday, August 15th.

Grey Ghost room reservations: Club members are offered a special room and breakfast rate at the Grey Ghost Inn. Visit their website  https://www.grayghostinn.com or call 802-464-2474 to make reservations. Space is limited, so call early to reserve a room for this event. If Grey Ghost rooms become sold-out, check out the region for other overnight room possibilities - there are plenty of places to stay in the West Dover area.

Driving Tour: Saturday, August 15: The driver’s meeting will be held at the Grey Ghost Inn parking lot at 8:30 a.m. with the tour starting by 9 a.m. The tour will end back in West Dover, where members are encouraged to join others for lunch, picnic, touring or other activities. More information about local dining possibilities will be shared closer to the event.

Membership Musings

The Green Mountain Region had impressive membership growth in 2019 and it was our hope to continue that momentum into 2020. Although we started off strong, the global coronavirus caused a speed bump in the spring and early summer. Both our region and PCA national experienced a slowdown that lasted several months. However, by the middle of June new memberships at PCA had returned to normal and at Green Mountain we are holding steady at 181 Primary members.

Each week I receive membership data from PCA. In every report the majority of people who become new members were recommended by current members. You are the best form of advertising! Sharing your excitement, enthusiasm and personal stories makes a difference.

It’s time to throttle up! I am asking all our members to make at least one connection over the next several months with a Porsche owner who is not currently a member or someone that may have expressed an interested in becoming a member. Many of you already have copies of the blue and white PCA application/brochure to hand out. If not, please contact me for copies or direct an interested party to www.pca.org or www.gmtpca.org  where they can complete an application online.

In an effort to communicate more effectively with our diverse membership your GMR Board approved the Green Mountain PCA Facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/GMRPCA/ as another means of staying connected. Our Webmaster, Al Iuppa and member Stephen Restelli, acting as administrators, have been doing a great job posting topics of interest and pictures. If you are not yet a member of the Facebook page simply log on and send a request to join. They will approve your request so that you can post content, pictures and interact with other members.

A sincere thank you to all our members for maintaining or renewing their membership. We value you as a member and look forward to your participation in club events.
