Coming up:
'Best of the Crooners' is season finale
Drawn to those popular songs of the '40s, '50s and '60s?
Like "Luck Be a Lady Tonight"? "Fly Me to the Moon"? "Bad Bad Leroy Brown"? "You Make Me Feel So Young"?
The SSO will slip into a pop music mode to collaborate with "crooner" Michael Vanhevel in the Orchestra's final concert of Season 14, "Best of the Crooners."
Join the fun on Saturday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Avondale. Purchase your tickets here.
Another reason to be there:

Not exactly your style?
Cinderella or Cinderfella,
who's to know?
The SSO's April 1
Phantom Ball
is not about elegance and social graces,
it's about generosity and love of great music, delivered to your concert hall.
So when you buy your tickets to the 2019 Phantom Ball, you do so knowing you won't have to dress up and wear those shoes that pinch and go out in the rain (or snow even!). And besides that, it's on a Monday night!!
No, you buy your tickets and then forget all about the Ball. Or think about it if you like, but whatever you do, DON'T GO.
Because, of course, the Ball is mythical, a grand illusion that gets you thinking about wonderful music, the kind that you're supporting with your gift (through your purchase of "tickets") to the Stratford Symphony Orchestra.
Please buy your tickets soon. The last day of sales is April 1 (the day of the Ball, remember?). See details below.
But first a word from our delightful and generous Phantom Ball ambassadors, Kelly Walker and Ray Harsant, angels for our cause:
"We live in a community that has taken on a mission of exploring imagination through the arts. This venture benefits our community and shares with the greater community beyond Stratford the gifts we encourage here.
Kelly Walker and Ray Harsant
"Our symphony opens hearts and minds as sounds and rhythms penetrate to the core of the human condition.  This encourages life, community and hope.

"We ask you to contribute financially to this venture. This group of musicians helps us to become united in a celebration of the best of what humans have to celebrate from the past, in the present and into the future. Corita Kent, an artist and mystic, says 'to celebrate is to say YEA to who we are in a ceremonial way.' Our symphony helps us do that with dignity, grace and wonder.

"Give generously!"
