I'm pleased to announce our newest staff member who'll help us in our work serving ALL West County residents and striving to achieve health and equity for all.

Edgar grew up in Richmond’s Atchison Village and has a passion for public service, equity, and justice. He's another talented person to join us who got his start at the RYSE Youth Center (just like my second-newest staff member, Tania Pulido!) and is a U.S. Army Veteran. He most recently worked in Congressman Mike Thompson’s Office.
Edgar holds a BA in Political Economics from U.C. Berkeley (Go Bears!) and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
He'll be my District Coordinator serving El Sobrante, Rollingwood, East Richmond Heights, and more, including code enforcement, animal services, and veterans issues.
Edgar previously interned in the offices of Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond (then Assemblymember Tony Thurmond), and Assemblymember Buffy Wicks.
When we came together to help establish the RYSE Youth Center many years ago, we knew it would help young people like Edgar thrive and become leaders!
Edgar is also an active member of Berkeley City College’s Veterans Club and UCB Cal Veteran Service Center, and a running and cycling enthusiast.
Most important, he's the proud uncle to two nieces and one nephew!
Edgar fills the position previously held by our long-term staff member James F. Lyons, also a veteran. James served with distinction in my office for nearly 10 years, and has taken a position in our County Veterans Service Office, where he will continue his passionate work supporting our veterans. James made our office and our community better for having served with us and we will miss him.
