What feelings are evoked when you send or receive a handwritten card?

The display cases in the lobby are overflowing with thank-you notes from the collection of library patron Alyson Kuhn. Although the display coincides with Thanksgiving, its subtitle is "Expressing Thanks is Always in Season." Its intent is to encourage - and even inspire - the sending of thank-you notes. Expressions of thanks can take many forms, from handmade to store-bought, from handwritten to typed, from postcard to pop-up. In a sense, the entire display is a thank-you note, to the Monterey Public Library community, to the Post Office around the corner, and to the endless creativity of Alyson's correspondents.

Stop by the Library this Saturday, November 19th between 11:00am - 12:30pm to create your own notecard. We will have note cards, stamps, and pens available so that you can send gratitude.

Cheers - Brian
