At our shredding event on May 20, we recycled 9560 pounds of paper. Thank you to the Cert members for directing traffic and to the Fremont Township elected officials (and Doug) for working the event. As part of our Groot contract, we get one free paper shredding event a year.

As you know, our garden feeds our food pantry clients. We are always in need of volunteers. If you are interested or need those community service hours, call Char at 847 414-3691. The Mundelein Tool Library, located at 428 N. Chicago Ave., serves all residents of Lake County! The Tool Library is just like a traditional library, however instead of lending books, the tool library lends tools! Organizers alerted us that they have an abundance of tools ready to lend. Visit the

The Wauconda Memorial Day Parade is a proud tradition of the American Legion Post 911. Celebrating its 72th year in 2023, the American Legion members proudly organize the Memorial Day Parade.  It has become the largest Memorial Day parade in Lake County, Illinois.

Beginning at 10 am the parade will kick off from Cook Park and end at Rt. 176 and Main Street. Be advised, parking can be an issue. Show up early. Main St. is closed for vehicle traffic at 9:15.



Their Memorial Day remembrance ceremony is after the parade, at noon, at the Memorial Park at Rt. 176 & Main St.

Fridays, June 2 - August 18, 2022 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Community Park

The sweet sound of summer is in the air! Their Concerts in the Park are a fun and festive gathering opportunity for family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy good company and live music. The schedule consists of local talent playing a variety of different genres for all ages to enjoy. Concerts are held at the gazebo at Community Park and are free to all attendees.

Mundelein’s Beautification Committee Invites Community to Spring into Summer Family Festival

Mundelein’s Beautification Committee in partnership with Tighthead Brewery has planned a family friendly Spring into Summer Festival on June 3 from Noon to 4 p.m. at Tighthead Brewery, 161 N. Archer Avenue.

The Kirk Players' Performances of Mornings at Seven will be Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10 at 7:30 pm and Sunday June 11 at 2:00 pm at Mundelein High School.

June 20 and June 21- AARP Defensive Driving Course will be held on Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday June 21 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm in the lower level of our building. Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. You must attend both classes. $20 for AARP members $25 for all others.

Ride Lake County is a borderless countywide paratransit service that provides seniors age 60+ and people with disabilities transportation to any area of Lake County for work, shopping, medical appointments and more. 

As a reservation-based program, vehicles do not travel on a fixed route each day. Riders schedule their trips in advance and the vehicles provide curb-to-curb service from the rider's desired pick-up and drop-off destinations. Ride Lake County is a shared-ride service, so vehicles may make stops for other passengers.

The local animal shelters are in need of sheets, towels, small throw rugs and blankets. There is a bin on our front porch at 22385 Route 60, Mundelein, if you have any old bedding you would like to donate. No pillows! The donations get distributed to shelters. We also accept leashes, collars, toys, pet food etc.

Our shoe bin is also on our front porch and we are accepting shoes to be recycled and reused. Please tie or rubberband the shoes together when you drop them off.

We accept yarn in our office.

We accept eyeglasses and hearing aids in our office.

We accept American Flags in our office.

The textile bin is also open and is located in our parking lot.
