The committee continues to meet bi-weekly on Thursdays and copies of all research resumption blank forms can be found here. Questions can be sent to RSC@uwindsor.ca.

ERSO Research Portal training dates
Are you preparing a research grant application this winter? Don’t miss out on training opportunities for the new ERSO Research Portal, your one-stop shop for streamlined approvals and easy tracking of your funding applications! The Office of Research and Innovation Services has launched the ERSO Research Portal as a paperless hub for keeping track of your research grant funding, including both for external awards and internal funding opportunities. The portal will replace the old ORIS Information Sheet and Checklist, which will no longer be accepted by ORIS as of summer 2022.

University of Windsor Internal Grants – Winter 2022 Opportunities
|
|
Are you looking for a small grant to help establish a research program, or supplement funding from an external source? Three UWindsor small internal grant programs are accepting proposals during February and March of 2022.
Exchange Grant for Travel and Knowledge Mobilization – due February 10, 2022
Maximum value: $1000
The UWT-SEG Exchange Travel grant encourages the exchange of research knowledge both within and beyond the academic community. Its objectives are to allow researchers to present research or artistic exhibitions/presentations and to support the organization of small-scale knowledge mobilization activities in order to encourage collaboration and dissemination of research results both within and beyond the academic community. For full eligibility and regulations, see the online grant guidelines. Please note that knowledge mobilization grants are only available for SSHRC-eligible projects.
Research Grants for Women – due March 15, 2022
Maximum value: $5000
University of Windsor Research Grants for Women are small non-renewal funding opportunities for female researchers to conduct research and other scholarly and artistic activities that aid in strengthening their future external grant applications. These grants are administered by the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS). Adjudication will be conducted by a peer review process comprised of a committee consisting of four to six faculty members, broadly representing the relevant Faculties, along with the Executive Director, Research and Innovation (as Chair). The committee composition will be renewed from time to time.
UW-SE Explore Grant – due February 26, 2022
Maximum value: $5000
UWindsor - SSHRC Explore Grants (formerly HSSRG grants) are small non-renewable funding opportunities for researchers to conduct research and other scholarly and artistic activities that aid in strengthening their future external grant applications. These grants are administered by the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS). Explore grants are only available for SSHRC-eligible projects. The UWindsor – SSHRC Explore fund is substantially augmented by a special allocation of monies from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
How to apply for these programs
Applications for internal grant programs are being accepted through the ERSO Research Portal. If you are planning to apply, it is recommended that you attend an Intro to the ERSO Research Portal training session prior to the deadline. To submit your application, follow the steps below:

- Click on Apply New
- Select the correct program from the list of available forms.

On the Project Sponsor tab, select the agency University of Windsor – Internal [INT] and the correct program from the drop-down menu.

NSERC CREATE Information Session for Prospective Applicants
NSERC’s Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program awards grants of up to $1.65M over 6 years for the development of innovative training programs designed to enhance collaboration and facilitate the transition of trainees to productive employees in the Canadian workforce.
In preparation for the next CREATE competition, NSERC will hold an information session via MS Teams webinar to provide an overview of the CREATE program and application process. The dates of the sessions are as follows:

NSERC Form 100D – Consent to Provide Limited Personal Information about HQP to NSERC

NSERC and Mitacs have launched a new program to leverage the resources and funding of both organizations; NSERC recognizes all industry cash towards the global budget of joint applications (which includes enhanced HQP training delivered through Mitacs Accelerate internships).

NSERC introduces new Alliance International grants
NSERC announces the launch of the Alliance International grants, a new funding stream to support Canadian university researchers working with leading international academic researchers to establish and grow international research collaborations and projects of global importance that will generate benefits to Canada.
Alliance International is a new, permanent stream of Alliance. There is no deadline to apply and grants will be awarded throughout the year. Alliance International offers two grant types: Catalyst grants and Collaboration grants.

Incubator Grants
Project funding to establish high-risk, high-reward initiatives that will test, evaluate, and scale-up innovative interventions and effective programs and services. The intervention should be solution-focused, ready for implementation, disruptive to the system or act as accelerator to close gaps in HIV prevention, treatment and care, and provide timely and early access to data.

These may be new, incremental, innovative projects and/or high-risk lines of inquiry or knowledge translation approaches.
In light of the disruptions caused by the Omicron variant of COVID-19, CIHR is extending the registration and application deadlines for the Spring 2022 Project Grant competition.

Ontario Research Fund – Research Excellence (ORF-RE)
The Ontario Research Fund – Research Excellence (ORF-RE) provides research institutions with funding to support the operational costs of major projects of strategic value to the province.
The fund provides up to one third of the total value of a project, with the remaining two thirds coming from a combination of private sector and institutional contributions.

- prepare your application and ORIS form or ERSO file and submit to ORIS by February 21, 2022 (note: there is no NOI this round)
