The town wide cleanup in the spring and fall has become a Plymouth tradition. With all of us pitching in we keep our parks, beaches, conservation lands, village centers and neighborhoods beautiful and safe for people and for wildlife. Families, neighbors, school groups, clubs, businesses and organizations all pitch in. We feel it is a good way to nurture civic pride in our young people.
To find a group or register your own, contact pfarah@townhall.plymouth.ma.us or call Patrick at Town Hall: 508-747-1620 x204. Camp Invention

CAMP INVENTION
Did you know that p
opcorn has been around for a good 8,000 years? Did you also know that its growth in popularity
is attributed to inventor Charles Cretors, who invented and patented the first mobile popcorn maker to ever hit
the streets in the early 1900s? Pulled by a horse, his popcorn wagon was a huge success, so Cretors continued
to improve upon his idea and eventually founded his own snack machines and supplies company, which is still in
business today. From a man with an idea, to an inventor, to a successful entrepreneur, Cretors revolutionized
the popcorn business! Explore your wildest ideas at Camp Invention by creating your very own prototypes, too,
this summer!
It's an exciting, week long summer adventure (7/6-7/10) with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems, turn ordinary into extraordinary and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules.
In the
KartWheel™ module, children let their engineering skills glide them across the finish line as they build, enhance and upgrade their very own freestyle racing cart. Boys and girls will explore what it means to prototype a product from scratch as they become an entrepreneur during the
Design Studio: Illuminate™ module. In the
I Can Invent: Next Level Gamers™ module, participants will take apart broken or unused appliances using real tools to create a physical video game model in the 3rd dimension! Finally, in the
Inducted™ module, personalized video challenges from National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees are introduced along with hands-on activities like constructing super-structure mega-towers, assembling out-of-this-world space rockets and so much more!
Take advantage of the Spring into Summer Discount ($15 OFF) the base price of $245. Every registration includes a complimentary Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so visit
http://bit.ly/1vTbBxo or call 800-968-4332 to secure your child's spot today!
ATTENTION PLYMOUTH STAFF
: For immediate children of full-time staff within Plymouth, there is a separate discount available throughout the registration season. Use your Plymouth email at registration to receive this $30 discount.

On Friday
, the students of Ms. Campbell's ELA class celebrated both their Greek and Latin roots as well as the hopeful anticipation of May flowers! Students began a review of their root words by identifying four words that contain a previously studied root as well as definitions for each word on a flower.
This was a fun and creative way for students to come together as a classroom community at the end of the week and bring some colorful cheer to the classroom. The students worked as a wonderful team to begin this review for an assessment at the end of the year containing 10 lists of Greek and Latin root words!

On Wednesday
in Ms. Campbell's Social Studies classes,we celebrated the life of Buddha. We made mini Buddha's out of clay and learned about Buddha's life. For example, we learned that he was the founder of Buddhism, that his name before he became Buddha was Prince Siddhartha and a lot more interesting facts. We had a lot of fun celebrating Buddha's life and it was a great learning experience!

PNHS Students to Travel to Italy
Rachael Tucker and Ali Petrelli are taking advantage of an amazing opportunity to travel abroad this summer. Rachael and Ali have been selected to participate with the USAPremier Softball organization and travel to Italy to play softball. These two young ladies were selected largely based on their talent and sportsmanship on the field. However, that was not the only criteria. Rachael and Ali are also strong leaders for their team, serving as captains their Junior year. Off the field, their drive, dedication, and personalities will make them excellent ambassadors in representing not only the type of athletes that we value in softball, but also the kind of students and citizens that we value in the United States. Rachael and Ali were nominated by their coach and then selected from a pool of applicants based on their skills and personality. Coach Sue Harrison nominated both of these young players because of their dedication to the sport, their skills on the field, and their leadership abilities on and off the field. These two young ladies will not only represent the USA as they travel to Italy, but they will represent Plymouth North.
National Honor Society The National Honor Society members held their annual Spring Blood Drive. The turnout of students and staff members that donated exceeded expectations. Members of the NHS worked hard promoting the event and working throughout the day to make sure it was a smooth process.
