| | | | Sunday, April 13 - Chapel Class: Bad Boys of the Bible | | |
In chapel class on Sunday, Rev. Timothy Price will be leading a session on "Bad Boys of the Bible," based on the book of the same name by Barbara Essex. In her book, Essex reveals a side of the Bad Boys of the Bible not usually reflected upon or even considered in most preaching and teaching. Adam, Cain, Abraham, Lot, Jacob, Jephthah, and Samson are well-known men of the Bible who were strong and faithful, yet also weak and challenged. The book won the Pilgrim Press Mayflower Award for Spirituality in 2003.
Chapel class begins at 9:00 am every Sunday and is open to all adults in person or on Zoom. The password for Zoom access is 461025.
| | | | Sunday, April 13 - Issa Amro, Peace Prize Nominee, at Plymouth | | |
Indiana Center for Middle East Peace welcomes Issa Amro, Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, in person at Plymouth Church today, Sunday, April 13, at 2:30 pm.
Issa Amro is a Hebron-based Palestinian activist, a leading voice in the non-violent movement resisting Israel's genocidal ethnic cleansing agenda. He is being nominated, together with Israeli activist, ICAHD founder, Dr. Jeff Halper, this year for the Nobel Peace Prize. Founder of Youth Against Settlements and Friends of Hebron, Issa has been harassed, arrested, beaten, and tortured on many occasions.
In 2010, Issa was declared a "human rights defender of the year in Palestine" by the Office of the UN's High Commissioner for Human Rights. Last year, the New York Times called him "one of the followers of Martin Luther King, Jr.," and the New York Times Magazine called him “the Palestinian Gandhi.” Issa was also one of the 2024 recipients of the Right Livelihood Award (the "alternative Nobel Prize") in Stockholm, "for his steadfast nonviolent resistance to Israel’s illegal occupation, promoting Palestinian civic action through peaceful means.”
"I have three choices: to use violence and I will be the hero of Palestine for one month; to accept to live under occupation and accept to be a slave; or to fight the occupation using non-violent resistance. So, you choose: I choose to fight using non-violence."
- Issa Amro
| | | | Tuesday, April 15 - Women's Book Study | | |
Women's Book Study will meet Tuesday, April 15 at noon in the Amistad Room. It's time to select books for the next ten months. All who identify as women are welcome. Each person may suggest up to two books that they have read and voting will then take place online. | | | | Wednesday, April 16 - Wednesday Night Live Continues
Wednesday Night Live programming continues on Wednesday, April 16. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal and children's choir rehearsal. The Lenten Book Study with Rev. Timothy will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm. Cassidy Cwierthia will lead an introduction to worship sign language in the chapel at 7:00 pm. The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

Our Lenten book study concludes this week with Michael J. Sandel’s 2009 New York Times bestseller Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?. For this final session, we will review chapter 10.
This may seem a puzzling choice in that it is not explicitly a religious book but rather a book about ethics and what different people mean by the word “justice.” Is it the greatest good for the greatest number, freedom for individuals to choose whatever they will, being treated fairly and minimizing inequality, the common good, or something else? Folks are encouraged to bring a copy of the book with them.
| | | | Wednesday, April 16 - Sign Language in Worship | | |
| Are you curiously watching the American Sign Language interpretation during worship? Join Cassidy Cwierthia for this introduction to worship signs. Learn to recognize some common religious signs, and join along in signing the Lord’s Prayer and common songs at 7 pm on Wednesdays beginning April 9 in the Chapel. All ages are welcome! | | | | Friday, April 18 - Good Friday Prayer Vigil | | |
Plymouth members are once again invited to participate in an all-day prayer vigil from their homes on Good Friday. Sign up for one or more 15-minute slots using the link below, and you will receive further instructions and prayer resources via email. Please consider joining your fellow church members in prayer on this sacred day. | | | | Friday, April 18 - Palestinian Way of the Cross
This Good Friday, walk in solidarity with the people of Palestine. We will gather outside the steps of Plymouth Church at noon, then process throughout downtown with various stations along the way for reflection and prayer. Bring a sign or a Palestinian flag. All are welcome. | | | | Sunday, April 27 - Plymouth Church's Got Talent

| | | | Tuesday, April 29 - Solar United Letter Writing Campaign | | |
Support solar energy in Allen County! Plan to attend a letter writing event in the Folsom Room on April 29 to learn more about the possibility of bringing grid scale solar development to the area. More details are coming soon, but for now, mark your calendars!
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Office Volunteers Needed for Weekly Staff Meetings
Do you have some time available on Tuesdays and are looking for something to do? Would you like to aid your favorite Plymouth Receptionist in making sure that everyone is greeted with a kind and smiling face? Do we have the opportunity for you! Plymouth staff are looking for volunteers to cover for the receptionist during the staff meetings every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. It’s a quiet time for the church, the most you may have to do is answer a phone call or two, maybe complete a small project.
To sign up as a volunteer, speak with Jake in the office or click the button below.
