Sunday, April 26 - Chapel Class: Songs of Immigration

As part of that residency, Dr. Sosa will be leading Chapel Class on Sunday, April 26 to discuss his music and share his story. Later that day, all are invited to attend the Plymouth Music Series presentation of "Songs of Immigration: A Journey Begins," at 2 pm in the Plymouth Sanctuary.

Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.

Sunday, April 26 - Global Mission Partners Special Offering

Wi'am: The Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center

On Sunday, April 26, there will be a Global Mission Partner Special Offering for Wi’am Center. Linda Kerr will give a moment for mission on her personal experience with Wi’am. The Benevolence Committee selected Wi’am to receive this offering. Your gift will help Wi’am’s powerful work in challenging conditions continue.

As a grassroots organization established in Bethlehem in 1994, Wi’am aims to improve the quality of relationships and to promote peace, justice, a culture of acceptance, and reconciliation in the community. Wi’am strives alongside other forces in the community to build a society based on active participation, citizenship, democratic norms and values, and separation of the four powers (executive, legislative, judicial, and media).

Their mission is to create a culture of acceptance of others as they are, through engaging in conflict transformation and empowering civil society while attending to critical needs for the social, political, psychological, and economic well-being of the community and its members.

Their vision is to bolster a vibrant diversity-in-unity community that cherishes justice and peacebuilding values, enjoys healthy relationships within an empowered civil society system, improves inter-communal relationships, and fosters transformative means of reconciliation.

Sunday, April 26 - 'Songs of Immigration: A Journey Begins' - Plymouth Music Series concert with Dr. Jorge Sosa

This April, Heartland Sings and Plymouth Congregational Church welcome Mexican‑born composer Dr. Jorge Sosa for a special three‑day residency in Fort Wayne, April 24–26.

Across the weekend, Dr. Sosa will share his powerful immigration story, lead a practical music‑business workshop, and take part in "Songs of Immigration | A Journey Begins" — a recital of Dr. Sosa’s compositions celebrating immigrant voices and stories. The concert on Sunday, April 26 at 2 pm at Plymouth Church will feature Heartland Sings’ Alejandra Sandoval‑Montañez (Principal Artist, Mezzo‑Soprano) and Seth Allen (Principal Artist, Tenor), joined by Collaborative Pianist Robert Nance. Dr. Sosa will provide an introduction, and there will be a reception to follow.

Sunday, April 26 - Anti-Racism Thought of the Week

"Racial caste systems do not require racial hostility or overt bigotry to thrive. They need only racial indifference, as Martin Luther King, Jr. warned years ago."

-- Michelle Alexander, legal scholar, civil rights lawyer, and author of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness

Wednesday, April 29 - Wednesday Night Live

Wednesday Night Live programming returns this Wednesday. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal. At 5:15 pm there will be Bible Study with Rev. Timothy, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm. Dementia support group meets at 6:45 pm.

All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

The passcode to join Bible Study on Zoom is 773232.

Upcoming Events

Sunday, May 3 - New Member Welcoming Group

Our next WELCOMING GROUP will meet Sunday, May 3, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. If you have been attending Plymouth for six months or longer, and your faith journey is leading you to explore becoming a member, this is a one-time required session. Whether you are confident, confused, or curious, our time together is focused on orientation, conversation, interpretation, and exploration. It is an opportunity for you to ask questions and to meet others who are considering affirming their formal relationship with Plymouth Church, UCC. A light lunch will be provided, and childcare is available upon request. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org.

Saturday, May 16 - ICE OUT of Miami Correctional

Hoosiers across the state will gather for a statewide action on Saturday, May 16, to protest ICE detention at Miami Correctional Facility. Currently, about 600 immigrants are being detained at this maximum-security prison, the majority of whom have no criminal record. In Fort Wayne, we will gather at 1:00 pm on the Allen County Courthouse lawn for a short rally, after which we will march to the Allen County Jail where we will sing resistance songs. Hope to see you there!

Adult Nursery Volunteers Needed

Plymouth is looking for a few more adult volunteers to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings, starting in the new year. Volunteers are scheduled to assist no more than once a month and are needed during the Sunday morning worship hour. If you would like to help out, please see Rev. Ofner-Seals or email her at smo@plymouthfw.org.

Safety Attendants

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link.

Open Prayer in the Sanctuary

For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
