| | Sunday, April 27 - Chapel Class on the Book of Job | | |
This coming Sunday, April 27, will be the first of a two-part series on the book of Job. This Sunday, Professor Joel Givens will be presenting on the philosophical content of Job, and on Sunday, May 4, Rev. Brian Flory will present on the theological content of the book.
Chapel class begins at 9:00 am every Sunday and is open to all adults in person or on Zoom. The password for Zoom access is 461025.
| | | | Sunday, April 27 - Global Mission Offering | | |
On Sunday, April 27th, we will be collecting our Global Mission Partner Special Offering. Established in 2024 by the Benevolence Committee, after consideration of a request to do so, this offering will support a globally focused organization identified by the Benevolence Committee that is of specific interest to the Plymouth congregation. Like our Thanksgiving and Christmas offerings, the recipient of the offering may change from year to year.
This year, our offering will be collected to support the Indiana-Kentucky Conference Sri Lanka Partnership. For over 30 years, the Indiana-Kentucky Conference has cultivated a deep, mutual partnership with our global partners in Sri Lanka, first with the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India and now with the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM), a church of primarily Tamil Christians of low caste, ones on the furthest margins of their society. From advocating for peace during the Sri Lankan Civil War to supporting pastors in their education, this ministry has been multifaceted and enriching over the years.
If you are interested in learning more about the partnership, you will find information and additional informational links here: https://ikcucc.org/sri-lanka-partnership/
Plymouth Church has supported this important partnership in the past, and the Benevolence Committee appreciates your consideration to do so this year. You may give in person Sunday in church via cash or check (please use the special offering envelopes provided), or online anytime at the link below using the "Global Mission Offering" option on the drop-down menu.
| | | | Sunday, April 27 - Talent Show Postponed | | |
|
Well, we only had one person sign up for the Talent Show, so in lieu of a solo act, the April 27 Talent Show will be postponed.
This means more time for you to rehearse for a future performance! We will try again soon!
| | | | Tuesday, April 29 - Solar United Letter Writing Campaign | | |
Join the Plymouth Green Team and Solar United for an evening of letter writing to our Allen County Commissioners on Tuesday, April 29 from 6:00 pm-7:30pm. Under current county policy, there are hard limits that largely prohibit utility scale solar projects. The County Planning Services department is drafting language that would create a pathway for this type of solar to be developed in Allen County. That language will be heard by the County Plan Commission sometime this spring or summer. If passed, our county will be able to have solar projects at this scale.
Food, beverages, and letter writing supplies are provided. RSVP at the link below.
| | | | Wednesday, April 30 - Wednesday Night Live Continues | | |
Wednesday Night Live programming continues on Wednesday, April 16. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal and children's choir rehearsal. Bible Study will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm. Cassidy Cwierthia will lead an introduction to worship sign language in the chapel at 7:00 pm. All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities, or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!
Click the button below to join Bible Study via Zoom. The passcode to join is 773232.
| | | | Wednesday, April 30 - Sign Language in Worship | | |
| Are you curiously watching the American Sign Language interpretation during worship? Join Cassidy Cwierthia for this introduction to worship signs. Learn to recognize some common religious signs, and join along in signing the Lord’s Prayer and common songs at 7 pm on Wednesdays in the Chapel. All ages are welcome! | | | | Friday, May 16 - May Bell Submissions | | |
The May '25 Bell newsletter is coming soon. If there is an article or information you'd like included, please send it to Zach (wzh@plymouthfw.org) by May 16. | | | | Saturday, May 17 - Church World Service Clean-Up Kits
|
In the aftermath of recent wildfires, the Southern California Nevada Conference of the UCC is in need of clean-up kits, and the Peace & Justice Committee is asking for your help with this project. Through a matching $250 grant from the UCC, and a grant from the Emma Feigly fund, all the supplies have been ordered, and we only need to assemble the kits.
Saturday, May 17th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm is the date set for this task, which will take place in the Folsom Room. Once assembled, these kits will be delivered to those who need them in California. So if you begin to see pallets in the Folsom Room, rest assured that they will not remain there long. Please join us if you can.
| | | | Small Group Sign-Up Available | | |
For those interested in participating in a small group, there is now a sign-up sheet available in the Folsom room. We are currently offering five groups: Devotions, Movie and Discussion, Exploring Faith Journeys, Nature and Spirituality, and Simple Living. Space is limited, so please only sign up for the group you are most interested in.
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Office Volunteers Needed for Weekly Staff Meetings
Do you have some time available on Tuesdays and are looking for something to do? Would you like to aid your favorite Plymouth Receptionist in making sure that everyone is greeted with a kind and smiling face? Do we have the opportunity for you! Plymouth staff are looking for volunteers to cover for the receptionist during the staff meetings every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. It’s a quiet time for the church, the most you may have to do is answer a phone call or two, maybe complete a small project.
To sign up as a volunteer, speak with Jake in the office or click the button below.
